Fixed a leaky linkage seal without transmission removal
Worked great on my 69 Camaro TH 400 transmission. Just need enough room to tap tool into seal. Then use bolt to remove seal. On my project, the rubber part of seal separated from met part of seal. No problem, used a pick to remove. Lubed up new seal and lightly tapped it into place. Tight fit with headers, but no worse than a lot of other projects! Nice tool kit, comes with new seal.

Works Great.
After reading all the reviews about this item and similar ones I was skeptical about purchasing it. I went ahead and purchased one to see how it worked and what skill was need to use it properly. I am a mechanic so my skills are adequate for the use of this tool. I wasn’t sure what I would receive from all the reviews. I re received a tool that was machined properly and didn’t seam to have any manufacturing defects. It slid over the shift shaft of the transmission I was working on just fine. At first I had a little trouble getting the tool started into the old seal. In order to get it started and imbedded in the seal all I had to do is apply pressure to the bolt head of the tool and turn the body with a open end wrench. It went in perfectly and seated against the seal. I then proceeded to remove the seal effortlessly. This tool was exactly what I needed to to the job with minimal effort. Worked great.

It won't work unless you move the transmission.
I tried to use this tool without taking out the TH 350 trans.Don't waste your time.It looks good going in, but there is no room to even swing a Crescent Wrench against this tool.Hitting at an angle is wrong!I had to clean up/ chase my threads due to some bad angled swings of whatever I tried to make this happen.("a 3/8-1/2" socket extension attached to an angled socket, attached to another extension, and then Hitting this tool into place with all of that, ... doesn't work")Not 'all' thought out shortcuts work. Some do.

Did the trick with a little work 700r4 88 iroc
So I was initially disappointed that right off the bat this thing did not bite into the seal. On the seal there is a thin rubber ring exposed externally of the metal shell. Without the ability to whack the tool significantly due to limited space... getting a bite into the rubber is hard. I tried sharpening the edge of the tool, no bite. Prying/Twisting action... no bite... I found if you take a very fine metal screw driver/pick.... of some type and score the exposed rubber seal (avoid hitting outer aluminum wall of shaft of course) I was able to get a bite by hand pressure alone and the tool did the trick no problem. Just needs something to bite into. Five stars for price, and eventually working. New seal seems to be of good quality. 1988 Iroc/700r4, did the trick.

Poorly made, Tool ID was .497 and transmission shaft OD is .501
AS stated the tool does not fit. Tool ID was .497 and the shaft it needs to sleeve over is .501. Not everyone has a lathe with a mini boring bar as I do. I was able to modify BOTH the remover and installer to make them work. Unless you have a way to machine out the ID's of both tools, don't buy them. You will find it frustrating when you make the preparations to do the work then find out you cannot. Plus the remover tool would not thread into the old seal without light hammer strikes and turning with a 5/8ths wrench at the same time to drive the threads into the old seal enough to get a grip. I had to dent the seal like a funnel to get the remover threads to grab the seal. What fun todays quality is.

Good product.
Make selector shaft seal replacement easy without dropping the pan or damaging the selector shaft.

Doesn’t fit the shifter shaft.
Inner diameter of tool doesn’t fit the shifter shaft, had to use a lathe to increase tool inner diameter, worked well after that
