Tumtum & Nutmeg: Adventures Beyond Nutmouse Hall (Tumtum & Nutmeg, 1)

I have a kindergartener who loves stories. Get this book! We tried Junie B Jones and were admittedly scandalized by her rudeness…my daughter shocked we couldn’t go more than 2 pages without bad behavior or bad words in Junie B Jones. A friend recommended this book instead and we are hooked! The stories have enough suspense to make her eyes wide, but sweet resolutions that leave her saying awwww, that’s good. The descriptions in the stories are vivid. The bigger words are used in a way that context clues help define them. It’s been a great book, hits all the areas I wanted: wholesome, imaginative, and well written. We both look forward to reading a chapter each night and sometimes sneak an extra one before bedtime!

The two main characters in these stories are absolutely charming! It is a really fun adventure that my kids enjoyed! They were begging me to keep reading to find out what happened next. Highly recommend this book series.

Such a fun read aloud!!! Don’t be intimidated by the size. It’s reads quickly and is so entertaining. My girls ages 9, 7 and 4 couldn’t get enough of this book. It had us all cracking up. So fun, hilarious, and exciting. We never wanted to put it down.

I am reading this to my 6 & 8 year old girls & we can’t get enough of the story. Such an adorable concept of mice helping humans. I enjoy reading the witty British humor while the girls love silly imaginings like a mouse getting caught in his underwear & being embarrassed. It’s all too cute!

My son has enjoyed Tumtum and Nutmeg since age 5. I highly recommend both titles. You know how at bedtime kids always beg for one more chapter?! I usually give in with this one because I'm also so interested in what will happen next! Who would think a few little mice could create such suspense?! The only bad part is that we are done with the books and there are no new tittles for us to turn to! I think these stories would be equally enjoyable for girls and boys.

I picked up Tumtum and Nutmeg at our local library. I liked that 3 volumes were in one book as we usually like a series and then have problems finding the other books to it. I love the english tone and new words that are not usually used in childrens books this side of the pond! I feel like my children's vocabulary grew and the stories were very entertaining. Yes, there is violence, but I can't recall ONE childrens movie that doesn't have strong scenes...it's exciting!!! I bought this book for my mom so she can read it to my neices and nephews. I know she'll like it as she is married to my dad, whom I believe General Marchmouse was fashioned after!

I read this every year, we never get tired of the mice adventures.

This is the sweetest series! We read it aloud during lunchtime and everyday my boys beg for me to read one more chapter! Tum Tum and Nutmeg are so loveable and funny and your kids will love all the adventures they get up to! These books are wholesome- no hidden agenda. And the language and vocabulary is beautiful and rich. Can’t recommend enough!
