Q: My chimneys are lined with stainless steel. Is this product okay for use on stainless steel ?

I also have a stainless steel flu. My insert and flu were installed in 2005. After that first winter, I cleaned the flu, and as I did so, I noticed a hard, glassy glaze of creosote, lining the inside of the flu. I did the best I could with the brush that I had, but couldn't remove the glaze. After that first season, I discovered Anti Creo Soot, and used it the next season as recommended. At the end of that season I discovered that the glaze had been replaced with a flaky black scale that brushed off with ease, revealing the bare metal beneath. That has been my experience every year since then. Not only is this product harmless to your stainless steel liner, it can further protect by helping to eliminate the buildup of creosote that leads to a chimney fire. One chimney fire can destroy your house, but at the least it will ruin your expensive stainless steel liner - the very first time!

Q: Is it sprayed directly on logs immediately before burning, or earlier; and should it be sprayed inside the wood stove?

it shoud be sprayed onto the wood/hot embers after the fire has had a chance to warm up the chimney. It needs the heat to be activated and do its job. My chimney sweep recommended it and says it has made cleaning much more effective.

Q: Can this be used on walls?

Are you talking about house walls? This product is for aiding in the removal of creosote in wood burning stoves/furnaces. It works good for that; I have never used it on anything else.

I don’t think any anti-creosote product will help unclog a chimney clogged to that extent. A flexible cleaning rod made for chimney work forced upward to break up the clog and removed a bit at a time. Once cleared, this product will help prevent buildup.
