J.K. Rowling

Overall this biography about J.K. Rowling is an informative and interesting read. Unfortunately, it doesn't include anything past 2003 leaving it a bit dated.

For awhile I read most anything written by or about Ms, Rowling. I'm an adult reader of the older ilk, and I also have to admit to a love for well-written chidren's fairie tales i.e., The Hobbit, recently out. I was quickly entranced by the first book of Harry Bown's. Now after 7 books, all very enjoyed, I find the woman who wrote them a true mystery. Everything about her is admirable. She took her imagination and came up with a great and thrilling story. How is she? How did she get the strength and courage to raise a young child and write this complex, well-plotted book(s). This book by Sean Smith gives a fair sized amount new knowledge of J, I only wish he had gotten into who she is right inside that part of her that dreams her characters, her plots, her twists and turns. What a fascinating life she must secretly live in her imagination. I would have liked to know more about her inner life. What it must be like to live such a long time writing about this fascinating world. It make our old corrupt world seem so dreary. If you feel as I do, buy it, only I wished I could have known JK better.

This book is supposed to be based on the movie. I saw the movie years ago and really liked it. I’m halfway through the book and don’t think too much of it but will finish it.

Loved learning the in depth story to her life and how she rose up through the ashes to achieve a lot of success. I think I would’ve liked to know a little more of the in-between stuff of the process of finishing her book and finding an agent. I would’ve also liked to know the in between stuff when she went from $4000 a year to a million.

This is probably not something I would read in my free time but it kept my interest and tells the dates. So I recommend it for anyone looking for a interesting person to do a report on.

With Rowling as the subject matter, how can it be bad!? The author, if good, could almost "phone it in" and still have a hit!

My daughter had to use this book as a resource for her writing class and it worked wonderfully. She was able to get tons of information about J. K. Rowling from the book. The best part however, was that it was a book she enjoyed reading and would read again!

I enjoyed reading JK Rowling outside of the Harry Potter series. I admit I was a bit taken aback with the language, however I think it was in keeping with the characters.

Bought as a Xmas gift for a fan of Harry Potter series of books. So hopefully will be interested in this book though they don't agreeand no do I with Rowling comments made regarding LGBTQ+ and Trans people.

But the cover is amazing bland so it did not make a good gift sadly.

compelling biography from one of the world's greatest authors. tells the story of how Harry Potter all originally began and how it became so successful. definitely highly recommended for Harry Potter fans like myself.

Loved this book by Sean Smith. Read through it in one sitting. Packed with information and very in-depth.

Not particularly well-written and a distinct lack of original research. Second-hand data only - there isn't anything here you couldn't pull from the various websites.
