A great processor for the money
I purchased this processor back in April to upgrade from an AMD Athlon II X2 245 dual core 2.9GHz processor. Needless to say, I've seen a massive performance gain since I upgraded. Installation was dead simple, and with a BIOS reset, the processor's effects were instantaneous. The processor also worked without problems, either.I ran some programs like Photoshop and Illustrator to see if there were any improvements. Again, the results were there, what with faster boot up and efficient resource usage. Other programs like OBS Studio ran like champs, especially when recording game footage. Previously, video footage recorded by OBS Studio was choppy, but now it's buttery smooth.Overall, this little processor is serving me well as of this writing. For $70 and free shipping, this was the best bargain upgrade I have made. A word of caution: this is an AM3+ processor, so an AM3+ motherboard is required. Fortunately, those are relatively cheap, too, and will make a great upgrade if you want a well-rounded personal computer that can do everything.

boosted fine to 4
Hesitant to review early not giving ample time to test but that said, fit in mobo, posted, running as expected at this time, proper status in bios and windows, boosted fine to 4.1ghz. All that said at this time in perfect working order, booted right up,idling at average temps,no signs of use at all, appeared brand new. Fast shipping, I mean reaaly fast lol. Great buy as of now! IF it continues to perform I will def buy more! Will update if any issues.

Great upgrade to older MB
I ordered this processor to upgrade an older MB to use it as a PLEX server with DVR. When I initially installed it, I thought that the chip was defective because the PC shut down a few minutes after powering it up. A bit more investigating showed that the BIOS was shutting down the board because the chip was overheating. The heat sink that was being used was a bit on the small side for a 6 core processor so I ordered a larger one to try before returning the chip. When the new heat sink showed up I saw the real cause of the problem, way too much heat sink compound between the processor and its heat sink. I was half asleep when putting the processor in and blobbed on way too much and when you do that, it acts more like an insulator. After installing the larger heat sink with the correct amount of compound, the processor runs nice and cool and provides more than enough power to handle the PLEX server.

Works great.
Upgraded old PC with this processor, made a big difference. It has SSE4 extensions needed for most Adobe programs.

Crippled my computer!
I bought this to upgrade from a amd phenom ii x3. I installed it into a msi am3+ motherboard and it took several hours to post. After i finally got it to boot i ran some benchmarks afterwards i launched gta5 in which resulted in constant lag spikes and blue screens. And now that i have reinstalled the phenom it runs even worse than before the "upgrade". I am now waiting on a return request i sent to the seller.

Six Cores Much Better Than Four For My Plex Server
Got on a mission from god to get together a designated Plex Server. I had everything but a Case and Main Board. Picked both up here at Amazon an ASRock N68-GS4 FX R2.0 $49.00 and Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini-ITX Computer Case $39.99. The Quad four AMD CPU that I had worked well but left me with limited on the fly transcoding ability on Plex Server. The FX-6300 CPU gives me three on the fly transcodes and more direct streams than I'll ever need at a reasonable price. So far very happy that I made the leap and purchased this. Made the decision to also upgrade the CPU cooler for me.

Bad one?
Installed in working system but would not work! Could be a bad motherboard or the Processer is bad! Not sure which right now!

Great Processor. I went from a Phenom II X4 ...
Great Processor. I went from a Phenom II X4 B97 3.2GHZ 95 watt processor to this one.Not a huge leap in speed so far, but I have not extensively tested it. It does run cooler, and use a bit less power than my old Phenom II X4.I mainly got this due to it having more, as well as more modern CPU instruction sets than my old Phenom II that I feel will greatly help with multimedia and video. Especially as HVENC and H 2.65 are being phased into things. And generally improve the quality of my PC in that way. For video games, it also is a bit better, but not by that much as far as I can tell, though I only play a handful of video games.
