It's working.
I am a Go player and wanted to increase my children's (ages 4 and 6) interest in the game. They play a version called "capture Go", where the objective is to capture your opponents stones. I was first introduced to this version in Yasutoshi Yasuda's book "Go as Communication: The Educational and Therapeutic Value of the Game of Go" and thought it'd be a great way to start my kids. Only problem was they weren't that interested, until they read about Hikaru! Now they ask and we play Go once a day. We also purchased the first volume DVD.

Great Series
I adore this series. I wish I could find copies of the books in hardback form too that didn't break my bank book. Until then I'll happily have the downloaded version. I didn't find any problems with the translations and since the book is read on Kindle in the same direction as the paper form, it makes it all that much more realistic.

Go game
The game is really nice - good board and markers. HOWEVER, there are no directions for playing (no directions in English) I had to go online and print out the rules for my grandson. This was a Christmas gift.
