8" AR500 GONG 1/2"

Definitely worth it!
This target comes unpainted which allows you to see just how precisely it was cut. It is impressive to say the least. As to it's durability, it seems to handle .308 175 grain FGMM and 5.56mm 55 grain ball at 100 yards just fine. They do leave very small indentations but, this is what I expected. I also hit it with some 9mm 124 grain FMJ at 25 yards with no noticeable damage. The rounds seem to completely shatter when they hit, sending very small pieces of shrapnel out to the sides. The 2x4 support and the ground below the target is where it seems to go. I saw no evidence of any shrapnel coming more than a few inches back towards me. I will continue to shoot from the recommended distances just to be safe.

Not good, shop around
I was pumped to get this target because I've had such great range time with all other Ar500 I've purchased In the past. This target was mounted ideally to swing and reduce stress, and was shot from further away than the recommended distance. Pitted immediately. I mean seriously at 150 yards with .223 this target should hold up and not show any damage. It Damaged the plate on every single shot! Even 9mm pistol rounds at 50 yards were causing pits! That is ridiculous!!! I wouldn't ever try to shoot a large caliber handgun or rifle at it.Maybe I got a dud...but I'm hard pressed to try buying again...

5 grendels from 100+ yards and it's still PERFECT! Worth every penny
Countless 7.62x39 from an AKM, 5.56 55-62 grain from AR15s, 30-30, even a few 6.5 grendels from 100+ yards and it's still PERFECT! Worth every penny. For those wondering the cheapest way to hang these. El-Cheapo Shepherds hooks from your local whatever store. The steel shepherds hook can hang it, keep it up *as long as you are in solid dirt* and they handle the ballistic splatter from the larger rounds fine. One of my hooks is missing 3/4s from a really bad shot and still holds this up. So I recommend 4 or 5 of these for your own mini range and then the hooks to complete it cheap!

The price is good but I'm not sold on the quality.
I'm a safety Sally so I set the plate up at a little over 200 yards. During it's first use the plate dimpled on every shot from 180gr .308 soft points. I'm new to shooting steel but this doesn't seem right if the plate is rated for .338 Lapua magnum like it says in the description. With all that said, the plate was worth the money and it truly is satisfying to hear that "Thhhwack" shortly after your rifle's report.

Exactly what I was looking for.
I bought this to shoot long distance with rifles and maybe take a few pot shots with my pistols. Smacked it several times with a open sight 30-30 at 100 yards and was very satisfying. Can’t really hear the “gong” especially with ear pro on but the visual confirmation is worth the money. Shot at 20-30 yards with .40 S&W no problems as well. No pitting. A little paint and you’re ready to go again. 10/10 would buy again. Probably will.

This is a great target.
I put a few hundred rounds of a variety of ammo - 5.56, .223, .308, .300Mag and .338 Lapua - into this and there isn't even a small divot. This is a great target.

Unfazed by .357mag and .44mag!
Held up to .357mag 3" revolver at 25yds. with no pitting, only paint removal with plated bullets. Hot .44mag hand loads out of a levergun at 25yds. with plated bullets only removed paint too. Very nice audible ring when struck. Should last for many years of handgun cartridge use. Target comes as bare steel, so order a can of bright spray paint too!

Good steel.
Good steel. Shot it with 5.56. 7.62x39 and 308. Nothing but very small dings in the steel. 2 rounds did hit the very edge and cause a small chip the size of the projectile just adds some character. Soft chain from home depot didnt last very long get a hardened steel chain. The feedback from shooting steel over paper makes for a much more fun day out shooting
