The brief case is made from 100% Italian full grain leather. The quality and the craftsmanship is exquisite. The leather finish is high quality while not being as stiff as a "Saddleback" product. The thread and hardware are well made and don't have that cheap made in china look and function. If you choose to buy, be aware of the color. What you see here is not exactly the color you receive. I ordered the TAN color and got a brown case. It is a beautiful color, though, but it is not TAN as you might think. It is like a chestnut brown without the reddish hue found in other briefcases. The chocolate is not chocolate it is a cordovan burgundy color - so beware if you don't want those colors.Inside light suede dividers with a three gusset compartment. A small pocket for a phone, my droid fits in there, two pen holders and a place for your business cards. In the rear gusset of the case are two slip pockets for placing papers receipts etc. Under the flap is a nice zippered pocket and the same with the exterior back of the bag is an outside zipper pocket.All in all I highly recommend this product. If you are a coinsurer of leather and traditional styling then this brief case is for you. You won't be disappointed. The only con I would complain about is the strap. It is not adjustable, and is about .75 inches wide with a small leather piece for your shoulder. For my height it is fine (5'11") and I have to say the strap is very comfortable even under a full load. However, very minor compared to this bag overall. By the way. This ships from the UK and FedEx will notify you about customs and you will need to fill out a short form (took me 1 minute and no duty is owed) and fax it back to an agent at FedEx. I paid $8.95 USD for express shipping and received it in two days. Great company!!

I did a lot of research before ultimately going with the Maxwell Scott briefcase. To say the least, I'm not disappointed. It's a VERY high quality product and is absolutely in the same league as other bags I looked at that cost 3 and 4 times this one. The only tiny issue may be your laptop that is larger in size. My Mac fits easily in the compartment, but my Dell (it's a big Latitude) barely fits. But, it does fit and I have carried it in there on several occasions. The briefcase looks even better in person, so don't be afraid to buy it before handling it. I hope this helps as I found very little owner feedback on briefcases before I finally went with this one.

This was a beautiful briefcase. The styling and craftsmanship were impeccable. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a well-made, functional, and attractive leather briefcase.

Three weeks after delivery the hinge pin came out of one of the handle brackets. Maxwell Scott is supposedly sending a replacement, in two weeks. I forgot and picked the case up by the handle and now the other bracket is bent. One of the reasons I purchased this brand was the 25 year warranty. We'll see. Not impressed so far.
