Henna is the healthier hair color option!
I first tried Light Mountain Natural Organic Henna (black) about 15 years ago. After intermittently using the popular drugstore brands to cover the few grey hairs I had, I finally chose to start using Light Mountain on a permanent basis, 5 years ago, when the grey increased around my hairline. The reason for my switch was that I learned about the potential link between the chemicals and dyes in hair coloring products - especially those used for black - and bladder cancer. In the last 10 years, a dear friend (60) and one close relative (58) died from bladder cancer. Both women had a long history of using commercial black hair dye. All the more reason to choose Light Mountain Henna.Admittedly, using henna can be a bit time consuming and tricky than commercial hair colorings. However, each application lasts 3 months for me and I've found helpful online tutorials and figured out my own Light Mountain "routine". I hope it's helpful for others to try.I add plain yogurt or natural sour cream to the boiled water-and-powdered henna mixture to make it less grainy and more malleable.I spoon it into a plastic squeeze bottle to have greater control when applying it to my hair. (It's usually necessary to enlarge the bottle tip by cutting some of it off.)I always wear nitrile gloves and an old tee shirt and protect my face and neck with olive oil.Shower caps are not as effective as winding plastic wrap all around the hairline several times to compactly hold the henna-saturated hair in place for the 4-hour curing process.Japanese plastic wrap, from DAISO, is perfect to use because it's only 9 inches wide and easier to handle. When rinsing out the henna, it's really helpful to incorporate L' Oreal's Total Repair Damage Erasing Balm -butter colored and comes in a jar. After 4 hours, the henna is pretty gritty and tenacious. I discovered this conditioner aids in the gentle removal of the henna residue. (Do not shampoo the henna out of your hair!)I used to buy Light Mountain at Whole Foods, Sprouts or a local natural grocer. However, these places no longer reliably stock many Light Mountain choices, if any. (I now mix the Black with Dark Chocolate for a less blue-black coloring.) So, now I buy the 3-packs per color on Amazon, for convenience.

LOVE THE COLOR!!
Honestly, I stopped paying $120 every 4 weeks and do my own hair now with this henna. Yes, it is messy. Yes, you temporarily smell like fresh hay. However, the end result is totally worth it. Hides my grey and doesn't involve tortured animals or poisonous chemicals. Two vegan thumbs up!

Good Product To Get Naturally Dyed Hair
I purchased this set of three boxes. I’ve only used one box but it did very well. It contained the bag of henna, a set of instructions, a pair of disposable gloves, and a disposable bag/net to keep your hair in while it’s soaked with the product. It’s important to do your research before using henna as it works differently than other dyes, but it worked wonderfully for me. I mixed it with the juice of a lemon and some black tea to get the shade of red I was looking for. The smell of wet henna is pretty gross (Wet barn? Wet dog? Wet rotten leaf pile? How do I describe the smell?) As unpleasant as the smell is initially, it will start fading. ;)The benefits of using henna as a natural dye are incredible, and this product did what I expected it to. I would buy this again, or even experiment with the other colors this company makes.

Not impressed
It sid NOTHING as far as color goes for my hair, except make my gray hair look yellowish. It did make my hair soft but it hardens while you're applying it & it was impossible to get the smell out of my hair even when I added some essential oils. I bought a 3 pack & will not be using the rest of it because I was disappointed with the outcome. This was my first time using this product, but I used another henna right after this one & boy did the color show up & it has stayed for a very long time, fades off the gray hair some of course. Gave the 2 stars for how soft it gets your hair otherwise it would have gotten a 1.

This sis the best henna for a natural red color
I’ve been using this product for years and I absolutely love it. Everyone thinks I’m a natural redhead! I recommend mixing yogurt in with the henna and water as I have way better color payoff when I do that.

Shine - NON coloring CLEAR henna
I did get a lot of shine from this henna and that was what I was seeking. Application is messy and I knew that from use of henna some years ago. Adding water to the henna and getting a smooth paste was, at least for me, almost impossible. Lots of lumps that I was not able to break down. Next time I will add some yogurt as they suggested. It did what I wanted it to and that was add shine. After my second use, I'll edit if results are better with the addition of yogurt.

Only darkened my hair
I am a natural redhead, but overall it is a darker and muted red. I bought this product to lighten my hair to a more natural and vibrant red. I followed the instructions word for word, but now I am a brunette who is longing for her red hair back (no offense to those who are brunettes). And it is not just a little brown. No, my hair is now almost black because it is so dark. I would not recommend this henna dye unless you are wanting to loose the days of bright hair.

Not burgundy in color
My hair is naturally light brown bordering on dirty blonde. I tried a swatch test and the hair I tested the henna mixture on turned a very deep brown. I'd describe the color as being similar to that of dark chocolate. No red hues in site.To note: I allowed the henna to cure 30 mins before applicationThen applied it to the hair and left it there for a total of eight hours. So I definitely gave it enough time for the henna to activate. I think the indigo they add in this henna just overpowers it.I've heard some people recommend using apple cider vinegar, etc., but I'm not sure that would make much of difference here.

Best henna, and best henna deal on the web!
First off, this is the best henna I have found to date, andSecond, this 3-pack is the best deal I have found on the entire web. After trying several other brands of henna, and failing to either achieve the desired shade or advertised lasting power of it, I came across the Light Mountain brand. So glad I did! That was 3+ years ago, and this brand (and possibly this shade) I'll be sticking with for as long as they keep making it.My hair was chemically colored before, and the damage added up over the years to the point of the hair thinning, falling out, and being generally weak and unhealthy. The other hennas were ok but this one delivered stunning color, softness and shine, and my hair stopped the massive shedding as well. After I ran out of the product, I recently went to another Canadian website to try to stock up and, much to my disappointment, they limit the purchase to ONE PACK! So, if you want more than one, you have to place two (or more) orders, and pay multiple shipping charges. Well (yes, that's a hint at that website), this kind of restriction is just plain dumb.I was super happy to find this 3-pack deal; it is simply brilliant, and I hope Amazon will keep this option up. I do my henna roughly every six weeks, so having an extra pack or two on hand is very convenient, not to mention saves me a substantial amount of money and I'm not wasting time on constant reordering.

100% recomendable

Excellent quality henna
I have used Light Mountain for years and have never been disappointed by their quality. The colours do not fade and the henna is easy to mix and not lumpy like some other brands.
