Great source for learning music theory. Very rich and goes beyond most all theory books I've seen. I use it in college and it's definitely worth the money!

The workbook and text for Tonal Harmony is the standard for many music programs. My aspiring musician lost his first copy and needed it so badly, that I had to buy a second. The only book he uses more is his Music Business Text, which is where they learn to be a profitable musician.Even if you don't need this text for a class, it is a valuable read for the beginning/aspiring musician.

I bought this book in its loose leaf format. It comes in good condition, but I’d also suggest buying something to mend the page holes when they break off (because they will), if you’re planning on putting it into a binder.

You're probably getting this for a class, but it's honestly a really great, well written, easy to understand text. One big type is in chapter four, maybe you'll notice it XD

I was required to get this for school but I learned a lot while working through it. Lotta interesting things to learn

The examples in the work book are simple yet grow in difficulty in a way that it challenges you and helps you learn but doesn't jump around so much that you have difficulty going form one example to the next. Love the review pages too because they help you keep all that you are learning fresh in your mind.

I am not a student or a performer, I am trying to learn music on my own, and after reading several beginners' books I found this one.I was searching for a book capable to explain me what harmony is in order to understand why good songs sound good. I didn't finish reading it, far from it, however it gave me the missing links, the why and the how. I also did the exercises proposed in the book and in the Workbook for the chapters I read, and this is a must if you want to build solid knowledge.However, this should not be your first book on music theory....
