This changed my entire reason for being
Just having bought one of the HP black ink cartridges, I now realize that I had been living a cloistered life of irrelevance. I have come out of the light of blank paper, and into the dark of true black ink. I have experienced an epiphany, a true realization of the meaning of life. Either that, or the crack I just smoked has finally kicked in.Actually, what you want to do is buy these so you can use the scanner since these all-in-one devices often won't work at all if there's no ink in them. What you can get with one of HP's all-in-one devices like a scanner/fax machine is a not-very expensive (under $100) sheet-feeder scanner with OCR software that can be used to move documents off paper and into your computer. But if you want to do inexpensive printing, this is okay for people doing less than 30-50 pages a month, or just doing small jobs (like printing envelopes or small batches of business cards where you change the design). If you go above maybe 50 pages a month HP is the second worst-cost printing provider (only Lexmark is consistently more expensive than HP), Brother and Epson are much cheaper on a per-page basis. You can find flatbed combined scanner/printer combos for around $40. I bought one of HP's all-in-one printers that use this because it had a sheet feeder and when I need to scan several consecutive documents I use it. I don't do a lot of print outs, I think the estimate of around 100 pages/black in this cartridge is about right. For everything above very small printing volumes (30-100 pages/month) you probably want something other than HP. If your printing costs are running less than about 30 pages a month who cares, this will probably do fine and you'll get about 3 months out of it for ten bucks.

Great ink
This brand of ink never disappoints. Arrived late due to inclement weather, but that’s understandable. I inserted it into my HP printer and it works great. Definitely will be buying again.

Great Product, Great Price
This product was a great buy and performed as stated, shipping was also great and arrived fast. I would buy again and again. Came in original packaging as stated and printed close to the amount of copies specified for me, however don't use these regular cartridges for photos they use lot more ink not all companies tell you that there are special ink cartridges for photos which use a lot less ink, using non photo cartridges use lot more ink so if you print lots of photos I suggest using a separate printer and the appropiate cartridges so you don't have to change everytime you print photos. This cartridge and the XL are designed for printing mainly text and not photos, printing photos with this cartridge will empty the cartridge very quickly usually in about 3-4 photos, but will print the amount of pages described by printing text only. Most photo ink is a different ink which cost a little more but is worth the money for excellant picture quality, text quality don't give you the picture quality many are looking for.

A nice way to save a couple bucks
This is the same HP brand black ink cartridge that you buy anywhere, but it costs a few dollars less on Amazon than at our nearest office supply store, and we don't have to drive "to town" to get one when we need it. I know a few people who use re-manufactured ink cartridges, but I also know quite a few who tried those and wound up with a horrible leaking mess, so my choice is to stay with the original ones made by HP.I don't do a lot of printing, and print very few images, so I have no comparison as to how long one cartridge lasts and I have not kept track of how many pages it will print, but one lasts me several months.
