DorcyLED Bright Mini Lantern 70 Hour Run Time, Small, Model Number: 41-1017, Assorted Colors

I own 4 of these Lanterns. My grandkids use them for night lights most of the time. The batteries last about a week or two even when they keep them on all through the night. The lantern gives out plenty of light and is built pretty sturdy. I did have one that stopped working. The LED started blinking one LED at a time until they all failed completely. Dorcy states that they do not sell a replacement bulb but for the price of these lanterns the expense of purchasing a new lantern isn't too bad. Too bad that we live in a throw away world..... but. Even though Dorcy states that they do not sell a replacement bulb I found a replacement on this website (amazon.com). Search for... "Dorcy 41-1644 40 Lumen 4.5 to 6 Volt LED Replacement Bulb". This $5.00 - 1 LED bulb works great as a replacement for this lantern and is easy to install by unscrewing the lantern top lens from the bottom (exposing the LED), then one simple twist to remove and replace the bulb.

I have a dozen of these. Inexpensive and for me at least, reasonably reliable. Wish I could pick the color, but that's a minor quibble. Most common use is in an 10 x 16 outdoor shed - at night, it throws more than enough light to see what you're doing without having to fumble with a flashlight. Second most common use is for summer camp latrines and Port-a-Johns (i am a Scout leader); again, more than enough light. What I really like about them is that you can run them all night for 2 to 4 nights with batteries that are too weak for any other purpose, that normally you'd just chuck in the trash. So, basically free to use, at least for me. Not real bright with weak batteries, but bright enough. Except for the one in my shed, which I use good batteries in, I do remove the used batteries between uses (some get used only 2 or 3 times a year). Not bullet-proof with respect to construction, but durable enough if you don't abuse or crush them, and inexpensive enough that they're basically disposable anyway.

I got one of these lanterns as a promo item at a conference and everyone in my family tried to get it after I took it camping. It is just the right size for kids, not dangerous for them since it is only an LED, lightweight, and puts out pretty good light. The handle comes apart to hook onto things, which is helpful. The one thing I would have wanted to know before ordering is that Amazon will send you whatever color the have the most of, not an assortment of colors. I ordered several for family members for gifts and all were yellow except one even though other colors were available. I knew I could not choose my colors but I deliberately ordered extra thinking I would get a true assortment and be able to get the colors I wanted but this is not the case. Not a big deal if you do not need a specific color.

The listed 70-hour run time is a stretch. However, I get three very bright overnights, up to 10-hours each, and a fourth night that is acceptable; to illuminate our bedroom hallway should my daughter wake up in the night during a power failure. Rechargeable batteries used… Seems well made and has a crisp on/off switch. Giving 4-stars for the 70-hour illumination promise that falls short. However, if you use alkaline batteries, you might do better. Bottom line, just ordered two more because I like the product. It is an upgrade over the battery operated flickering candles that we have been using. Recommended if you can live with the run-times I have listed.

This lantern is so bright, but it doesn't shine in your face because of the translucent top. I love how the light spills out and fills up the tent or room - instead of like a typical flashlight and a directed beam. The base unscrews so they don't fall out easily or require screws and it takes a few AA batteries, which seem to last for quite a long time - probably because it is LED. It is a nice, white light. I also love how the handle has a clip so you can hang it from anything.The handle does seem a little fragile - but with careful use it has lasted very well!(My kids love to use it too and it seems to be easy enough for them to turn on and off, as well as durable enough.)

This is a item you need to have stored in your care, and in each room in the house with back up batteries. They give off great light for outside projects and you will be prepared if so whatever reason your loose power

last category 5 hurricane proved how useful and handy these lanterns are. they are lightweight and run a decently long time on batteries.

I bought this for my shelter-in-place weather emergency supplies.It's very lightweight, yet it doesn't seem flimsy at all - that's good.However, the light is blinding, even when seen out of the corner of the eye. As best I have been able to figure out, I have a choice of hanging it above head level (not an option for me) or setting it on the floor or a low stool for area light. I have a good supply of small flashlights, to light my way around; I got this because I wanted to be able to read, fix simple meals, wash dishes, use the bathroom, etc when the power is out, but it doesn't look like it's going to be really practical except for the last.

utiliza 4 pilas "AA"no es la linterna mas potente , tal vez tampoco la mas rendidora en cuanto a consumo, pero bueno el precio lo es todo; yo pague aprox $106 por ella, con un diseño que jamas pasara de moda.tiene unos 40 lumenes según sus especificaciones. y me gusta que tenga el gancho para colgarsecomo dato o hack que se me ha ocurrido es que, tanto la tapa de las baterías es enroscable así como el cuerpo de la propia lampara; bueno, si vas a dejar esta lampara mucho tiempo con las baterías, es mejor que las dejes en el cuerpo de la linterna , de esta forma no se van a sulfatar o drenar . It takes 4 AA batteries (the website says it takes 3 AA batteries but this is an error).

These are great little lanterns.

We love the design and funtion. We use it for every electric power failure and so many other duties. We've gifted one to all our si Ling families.

I bought 2 of these lanterns. One for a 3 year old boy, and one for his five year old sister. They love them, and use them for playing camping. The on/ off switch is very easy for little fingers to use. The batteries last a very, very long time. Recommended!
