Hidden Treasures Paperback – November 27, 2013

Excellent book, full of many good, memorable lessons, while keeping one engrossed in the story.Although others told me “How clean” my house was when I had been following the Fly Lady system before, somehow I missed reading this book. After many months of healing from an accident & wanting to Refresh myself with the system to form all the good habits again, I found this great book recommended on Fly Lady’s website. Lo & Behold, when I tried to purchase the Kindle version, I discovered I already had it on my Kindle buried under some others not read!!! It’s really true, it’s as if Your House Takes Care of Itself when following the Fly Lady system! This book was a real JOY to read, making me even more enthusiastic to Get Going Again, starting Where I’m at. I believe both “Sink Refections” and this book were God sent! The Teacher teaches when the student is ready to learn. Having done the system before, this book gave me even greater meaning to whole process. I’m grateful for finding it & immensely enjoyed reading it!

If you are working on the FLY lady cleaning - routines system with Marla this is a great companion for anyone because it provides live examples that really help to motivate your journey towards a clean house and calm demeanor in your daily life.

Several years ago I was drowning in clutter and overwhelmed by the stress of adopting one baby then finding out I was pregnant and then finding out my Dad had incurable cancer and then becoming the victim of harassment at work. I was avoiding dealing with my life because I felt incompetent for the task. Then I discovered Pam Young and Flylady and realized that not only was I not the worst in the world at handling life, I was one of many and there were people with a simple system of babtsteps who had already dug themselves out of the same traps I was in. I laughed at how impossibly simple their answers were but laughed even more when they worked. I started by shining my kitchen sink and ended up by raising two wonderful young men and publishing three novels and keeping a home and enjoying my job. And through it all, Flylady and her encouraging sayings have become a part of my self guidance system.This book turns the way Flylady helps us into a story with characters we can identify with as they make the now familiar journey from chaos to joy. It may not be meant as a self help book in the same way Flylady's books are - but it is one, as well as being a quick and delightful story in its own right.Unless you were born organized you should find Flylady - and this story is an entertaining way to do so.

I was going to order Hidden Treasures from Amazon a couple of months ago, but I changed my mind after reading the bad reviews that were posted there. Then, when placing another Amazon order recently, I wanted to add something to my order to get me to the $35 minimum so I would qualify for FREE shipping. I immediately thought of the Hidden Treasures book and reasoned that I would rather have something for my money than just paying the shipping fee. And, I thought--who knows?--the book might turn out to be helpful to me in some ways, even if it wasn't that good, so I ordered it.I have now read the entire book and was pleasantly surprised! It is not perfect. It did take a little patience to get through the beginning, since the first character scenario seemed quite far-fetched. But, most books do take a while to develop, so I stuck with it. Glad I did! It gives more visual and real images of how to accomplish all of the things that are part of the Fly Lady system and illustrates why and how they work. While I understand the ideas, I don't always know how to apply them to my life or where to begin. When I look at the mess around me, it is all just so overwhelming! The fictional characters in this book are in the same situation, and they also struggle to apply the methods suggested in the book because they have trouble believing that such small things can really make a difference. But, being desperate, they finally agree to give it a try, even if just to prove it WON'T work!For me, believing that the simplicity of the Fly Lady system could really work for my situation was a great Leap of Faith. Hidden Treasures can especially help those who may feel as I did, because the characters in the book must also make this great Leap of Faith, since the disorganization in their lives has made them desperate for change. Their fictional situations are much worse than mine, so their skepticism, struggles, and, finally, their successes give me the hope that I, too, can finally rise above the clutter and get organized. The book shows how just a few small steps CAN lead to big changes over time. One very important theme of the book deals with the power of our negative thinking to cause us to fail again and again, and how we must change our thinking if we want to truly change our lives. This book illustrated how to do just that. You really don't have to have previously read Fly Lady's book or emails for this book to help you. But, if you can get hold of a copy of Sink Reflections to read, I WOULD. It is there that these concepts are explained in more depth.I suppose that naturally organized people will probably never be able to understand the problems with the 'ordinary' that people who are not naturally organized have, and how our 'thinking' keeps us from fixing what seems so simple to them. Perhaps this explains the bad book reviews. Or, perhaps, those reviewers were just not believers in the system's ability to help them succeed. But, if you are unsure of how the Fly Lady system can be put into practice in your life, than I recommend you read Hidden Treasures. The cost is minimal, and anything that can help to bring me out of the CHAOS I have lived in is worth its weight in gold!Tracy Burger

I love this book! What a great compliment to the FlyLady system. I have been a follower or a flybaby for over 2 years. I've loved having help getting organized and becoming less stress. I've kinda taken a sabbatical from my routine and noticed the stress and disorganization that crept back in my life. I was excited to see this book written. I couldn't put it down because I could relate to the character. The book is funny, thought provoking, inspiring and down to earth real! It's truly a compliment to the system. Thanks for writing an entertaining story and yet one that a lot of us can relate to. And thank you for inspiring me to get back to being a flybaby, doing my routine and shining my sink! This is a great read! It's a 2 thumbs up!

I’ve had this book for years now & ive read it so many times, I’ve just finished reading it again. My hubbie was a contractor so we have moved house so many times it’s unreal, as a consequence, I have never been anywhere long enough to get organised. To cap it all after every move there was more stuff to move back into our house so the accumulation was ongoing. We are now in the process of selling our house and trying to dispose of decades of possessions. Madness, but amazing , we lived in Paris for years, Nice, Monaco often on boats, occasionally in Motorhomes. So I read this book and at 71 years old I am still longing for this level of organisation and freedom. I find it in here, I long for it, so what can I say, onwards and upwards, Baby Steps from here on in, my sink is shined.

Have been a fly baby for years. But since I've started reading FlyLady books, my motivation has remained and baby steps are all i take

Great story, well written, meaningful and inspirational - highly recommend it!

J'ai lu le livre d'une seule traite c'est très bien écrit j'ai déjà lu le livre de FlyLady et malgré le fait que je ne suis pas désordonnée j'ai beaucoup apprécié en fait je dois avouer que je me suis bien amusée. Une très bonne distraction pour moi et je pense que ce livre ainsi que ceux de FlyLady seront utiles pour des personnes qui ont des difficultés avec organisation de leur nid familial.

No he terminado aún de leerlo pero me gusta porque te representa situaciones de desorden en el hogar que todos vivimos en el día a día y lo hace desde una perspectiva de humor pero a la vez te enseña a manejar esas situaciones e intentar tener más las cosas, y la vida, bajo control.
