Staying warm is essential for survival but when you need to stay moving make sure you packed the S.O.L. Heat Reflective Waterproof Poncho. It’ll keep you warm and dry like reflective blankets while still giving you freedom of movement. Made from a quiet, tear-resistant material, this rain poncho will not shred if punctured to last through multiple emergencies or adventures. The poncho reflects 90% of body heat back to you to prevent heat loss and trap warm air. The waterproof and windproof sealed seams can also keep you warm and dry from snowstorms and downpours. A one-size-fits-all is large enough for you and your pack to have full coverage from rainstorms. Compact and lightweight, the reflective poncho weighs only 2.7 ounces and is small enough to fit comfortably in backpack pockets, glove boxes, or in a survival gear kit. This set includes 3 ponchos total. Give yourself warmth in bad weather while still being able to move around with the S.O.L. Heat Reflective Poncho.

Much better than a "Survival Blanket"
Dump the mylar survival blanket and get this poncho (SOL used to call this the Emergency Poncho). This is far more practical than the blanket as it allow you to keep warm and still retain use of your hands. The blankets require you to either hold them in place with your hands (thus losing the use of your hands) or tie cordage around them to keep them in place, which is a mess. This poncho will keep you warm, if cold and drier if raining but still allow use of your hands, which is critical in a survival situation. Collecting wood for a fire- you need your hands, Rigging up an emergency tarp-you need your hands, Building an emergency shelter (if you forgot to bring your tarp)-you need your hands, Signaling for rescue-you need your hands...I could go on and on. While I still carry an emergency blanket to help someone else or cover a shock victim for First Aid situations, for personal use, the SOL poncho is a significant leap forward in practicality. Come to our classes at the "School of Self-Reliance" and see the comparison in person.

Great for survival kits and glove compartments
Relatively compact and light, orange for safety and visibility, sheds rain, blocks the wind, and more robust than those thin $1 ponchos. Reflective interior can add a bit of warmth. I had a problem with my hiking survival kit. Typical priorities are shelter, water, fire, food in that order. Trouble is, sometimes fire can be a higher priority. If it's raining and cold, what do you do if you need fire wood after you use your survival blanket to make a shelter? To solve the problem, I added this to my kit. I also wanted something that I could wear if I had to change a tire in the rain, so one of these went into my glove compartment.
