Had the gas company hook this up and it ran for about 32 hours (not non-stop...I had the thermostat remote running) then it quit. I cleaned out the unit like the instructions said and was able to get it to run for another 8 hours and then it quit again. I contacted Amazon customer service and since I reported this Dec 16 (I guess the 30 days from delivery was Dec 5th) they won't let me return.The gas company believes it is a defective unit and they do not understand why it will not run. I guess my fault I didn't have the gas company on stand by to be able to run over to my house right away. To expect an appliance to be installed and functional (and troubleshooting) within 30 days is not realistic. Have about $1200 into this purchase now without a working unit...not happy!!

Well, I have had it a year now so I feel I can write a review. I put this in an old house we have to keep it warm and dry during the winter.The cabinet is super built. Sturdy. Pretty. Went together pretty easy.The metal housing is very nice too.I do not like that you have to pull the whole cabinet out to hook / unhook the gas lines.It worked well for enough for a while except for the batteries going dead pretty fast. About a set every 6 to 8 weeks, even with "good ones".There are 2 major problems though. It is remote controlled and as I said the batteries would die. Once they seemed to die while the logs were on. The house was over 100 degrees when I came in to check one day! I could not turn them off by remote. Once I replaced the batteries it went back to working correctly, still eating batteries however.Now comes this season, wondering what to do. It got cool one night so I tried to turn them on, after replacing the batteries. There is a click but it does not come on. I read on some site where someone else had to replace the control unit for what sounded like the same problem.They are over a year old in all.I am wondering where I might get parts or if I even trust them to have them fixed.

The fireplace is great except that it was missing a part. The middle bracket is missing and I can't install the fire logs until I get the bracket. I sent them photos of the missing part and copies of my purchase receipt. Three weeks later and still no word. When I call it takes about 30 minutes on average to talk to someone and its always the same woman. She says they are working on it and that I'll get an email when its on its way. This was the second time I have been told this and still nothing. Like I said, the fireplace is well built and works great but it does make a loud clicking noise when it comes on or goes off. This can be startling. I would like to give it 5 stars but customer service is very important.

We have had this fireplace for a year now going into the second season of using it and I will say it is a great fireplace. This unit heats my entire house it is that effective. This unit is solid wood and I mean SOLID it is very heavy every piece of it was heavy. I would have gave it 5 stars but the remote is not very good, that is the only complaint I have with it, there is no down button for the thermostat set, there is only a up and you have to hold it down until it goes back through the the temps to get to where you want it. Also you have to change the 4 double A batteries once a month but that happened on my old fireplace also. Over all you are getting a A+ quality unit for a less expensive price. Make sure you have a vent somewhere in the room or crack a window about 5 inches. This is a Vent Free Fireplace but that just means it has no Vent you still have to have some kind of ventilation in the room just like for all Vent Free gas heaters.

Delivery was a little hectic, but LOVE the fireplace! We are thinking it will be out primary heat source for this upcoming winter since we ordered it late spring. We did have a cold snap and was able to try it out, we were IMPRESSED! Very comparable to a wood burning stove, without all the mess.Came in different colors, but this one was $300 cheaper then the off white one I would have rather had, so will paint my living room walls instead.Remote sense the room temp, once in awhile it doesn’t kick the fireplace on (or off!) but just WOW!We have our 55” tv sitting on it, and it looks great! The flames are beautiful tooIt was really easy to put together too, the mantle is solid, way better then the electric fireplace we had in the spot before this one!

This beautiful fireplace looks gorgeous in my downstairs great room. I purchased it in May of 2016 and only used it for about a month in September of 2016 for a few cool evenings. Then this October, I tried to turn it on, and it would not light, although the pilot light was clearly on and the gas tank was full. After an $80.00 service call, the technician found the fuel valve was stuck and I had to order a $70.00 part and pay an additional $80.00 service call to have the stuck valve replaced with the new valve. So add $230.00 to the purchase price made me pretty unhappy after using the fireplace--gently-- only for about three weeks a year ago. I don't think a valve should freeze up that easily, and I'm irked by the additional layout of money to keep it running.

Received lots of compliments. Beautiful cabinet. We are saving lots of oil this month. Had to get past the smell of the paint on the logs, but with the blower, this fireplace really does heat our whole house. There was a problem with our first fire box. It would not stay lit. Luckily, Amazon sent another one & our Plumber came back to reinstall it at no charge. The new one is working fine so far. Love our fireplace !!!

We purchased this fireplace for our new home. It was easy to put together. The style and size are perfect for our space. It looks beautiful. The problem is it doesn't work. It lights and will run for about 5 minutes then it shuts off. We have called customer service several times and done all the fixes that they suggested and it still doesn't work. It is basically a functionless prop in our living room. Do not waste your money.
