Solid Home WAP
I've used the FWAG114 for about 2 years now, and it has performed solidly for me with XP and 95 clients, unlike the linksys WAP that it replaced. As with any wireless access point, some tuning is required to help ensure a clear signal in our increasingly congested wireless world. The FWAG114 provides an easy to use web interface for configuration, and the default settings will work well for many applications. I have a fairly large space to cover, and use 2 114's configured to allow roaming within the space. The 114 includes VPN tunnel support, which may be unnecessary for many home users.

Owned since June 2004 and not one major problem or issue
For me this has been a sound electronic device running constant for nearly four years now. Solid firewall capabilities, never a reboot other than firmware upgrades, and plenty of configuration options to enable/disable or jackup various features. No product will ever be perfect and in fairness I have to add my gripes about this one: wireless signal strength varies and at times drops off when I'm outside (router is in a basement) which pisses me off but generally has not problems inside home, management interface is bland and cluttered, a bit expensive but you get what you pay for.If I could give it 4 and a half stars, I would. It loses one star because connectivity outside and only 75-80 direct feet away should work without 50/50 chances. Again, the FWAG is in a basement so going up one flight and out the front door (or through the concrete and earth) is probably tough for such a little signal wave. Nonetheless, I've been very happy with it!

Still Going Strong Since 2004
I have more experience than most users since I was in IT since 1967 & was a national mainframe troubleshooter at one point. However, I've been using my NetGear FWAG114 since 2004 for a small business network without a single problem. I originally bought 2 units because I was running a VPN to work for file access. The 2nd unit has been boxed up for several years.I just ordered a GS108 switch for the LAN since the FWAG114 isn't a GBit device. My PC is setup as a server with all data on it and any other PC has to tap my box for data (mine gets backed up) so I wanted the performance of Gbit which my older FWAG114 doesn't have.

DO NOT BUY IT!!!
I've owned this unit for a week and I've had to reboot it over a dozen times. My experience with Netgear's FWAG114 is apparently the rule rather than the exception; message boards show many people face this problem. Things like VPN are worthless if you have to do a local reboot twice a day; Netgear is irresponsible for selling this product. This is a very expensive product that I would think Netgear would want to work. Why they would stake their reputation in part on a product they know doesn't work is simply baffling. In short, the fancy specs obfuscate the fact that it just doesn't work. The Netgear FWAG114 is ultimately a glowing example of "too good to be true."

Simply does not work
I have owned Netgear FWAG114 for over one year and have had repeated problems with random drop outs of service. Like a previous reviewer, I have had to reset the AP at least once a day for it to resume to work. At first, I thought it was my cable service; however, when I switched to a different router, I have absolutely no problems. I have updated the AP with the most recent Firmwire and have purchased several to test them. Unfortunately, they are all lemons and the problem lies within the AP itself.

Great Product
I highly recommend this product, which can be used with their other NetGear connectivity products (PCI cards, etc) as well as Centrino-based laptops seamlessly.Everything works right out of the box, first time!
