Alif Baa: Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds 3rd Edition

If you need a book to help you learn Arabic, this is it. My husband and I are working through it in a classroom setting. The homework drills are good and the book lends itself to self-study with little adaptation.I do recommend ordering the answer guide along with it to self-correct dictation and other, more difficult, exercises.

Listed as Used in Good Condition but the previous owner filled in every exercise in the text book. This is not an exercise book.

Does not include DVD as indicated in the description not does the book include interactive or digital access of any kind. It is far more cost effective to purchase digital access directly from the publisher. This privid s immediate access to the digital version of the print Edition, videos that should have been included in the DVD and interactive study materials for class access. With discounts, even the pricing is better. Very disappointed in this purchase.

This book is fine if you want to learn the alphabet. But it uses the most painful and inefficient way possible to teach vocabulary: a tab chart with words in English translated to Arabic. Come on, if I wanted translation for random words, I would just go to Google Translate!Whoever created this book should take a look at Pierre Capretz's French in Action for inspiration. That's how you teach a language.If the language school you are attending uses this book, I would suggest that you look for a different class (the only reason I'm not dropping out is because it's too late to get refund).Expect to learn very little but the Arabic alphabet from this book.
