Disappointing
This isn't a full length book like the two that preceded it. It's a short story without much plot or message. The included stickers don't make up for that.Perhaps most disappointing is that Pete Oswald, the illustrator of the prior books, illustrated only the cover of this one. Only when you turn to the title page do you see the listed illustrator for the rest of the book. I felt like I'd been suckered into a cash grab. This is the only time I've ever been annoyed enough with an Amazon book to go through the effort of returning it. :(

THE BAD SEED etc and this one is LAME!
I purchased all the others in this series from THE BAD SEED to THE GOOD EGG to THE COOL BEAN so my son eagerly awaited the drop of this selection. The story is non existent and nothing like those three others. It was so MEH at best. I guess it is cool they includes stickers but this is way below the comprehension/story telling of the original seri and should have been relegated to a 'board book' at best. We were so bored the first time we read it and I will be giving it away asap. DULL AS CAN BE!

~~'Indeed'....an outstanding book....~~
This was written for ages 4 to 8 and grades P to 3. The illustrations are well done and accompany the text. A most interesting story about what eggs do on the weekend when the store is closed. Who knew? Spoilers do follow!Shel, an egg, for some reason was left behind in the carton when the other 11 went off to play games ...and eventually hide in the store. At the beginning she was content to be by herself as she enjoyed the peace and quiet. But, as time went on, her stress level increased when the others didn't come back at lunch. Decisions, decisions, decisions...Should Shel go or stay? The younger ones will be able to recognize items sold in the store including potatoes, tomatoes, avocados...a teaching lesson for the parents in the event the children are not familiar with these items.I really liked that all of the eggs helped each other look for Meg, the missing one...A clue was followed and teamwork helped .... It is always so nice to play with friends, isn't it?All of the eggs had cute names, too.. thought that was a cute addition to the text. 'Indeed' an outstanding book...Most highly recommended ...an enjoyable read with lessons throughout the text.

Cute sequel, but lacks the depth of its predecessor.
This is a cute sequel, and fun addition to the series. Just feels like a quick sequel because the story lacks the complex themes of the original. I'd consider this a short story, the book is smaller and doesn't come with a dust jack like the Good Egg. Kids will still like entering this world and seeing what all the eggs (including other Frank) are up to. The stickers are a fun addition, I almost don't want to use them. I just wish this had a little more depth to its story. As always, the illustrations are fantastic!

Funny with a nice message and fun to read.
Contrary to what someone else reviewed, the book IS a full-length book and does have a plot and message. The “interior artwork” was done by another illustrator but it was based on artwork by Pete Oswald and they clearly state that in the book. There are books illustrated by one illustrator and the jacket might be by another illustrator so I don’t see the big deal.If you’ve read The Good Egg and understand how Shel was, then you would understand the message in this book. Read it yourself and see. And to the reviewer, you are entitled to your own opinion of the book but at least be truthful about its contents.

Meh
My 6yr old son loves these books by this author. We have every single one. The Bad Seed is his all time favorite book. How ever this one is not my favorite. It’s like all the others with same universal theme in the way it’s written. It’s just lackluster. Feels rushed. I do not, not recommend it but the other books are much better

Don’t hesitate on this one!
This is another amazing book to add to the series! I didn’t think it’d be possible to top the good egg, bad seed, or the cool bean, but to my surprise John did it again. This one might even be my favorite! My kids (7,5, &2) loved it! I didn’t realize there are even stickers to decorate your own egg.

Add it to your book shelf!
Such a cute book. The story is witty and pulls you in. It teaches teamwork and the fun of joining, instead of being timid and sitting everything out. The illustrations are lively and enjoyable. When I was a child, I was hesitant and withdrawn, I would have definitely benefited from this type of story. My own daughters are leaders and do not struggle as I did. They also LOVED this book and were rooting for the main egg Shel. My children's ages are 8 and 5. They were captivated. They laughed so hard at the egg named "Other Frank." Both thought that was a fantastic joke. I would recommend this book for everyone. Children and adults will delight in it.

Perfect book for children ages 0-8
Great book!! Very cute and funny! My 6 year old really enjoyed it. She also loved the 2 pages of stickers included in the book. She spent hours decorating plastic eggs leftover from Easter and creating her own characters.

No emotional lessons like in the previous books.
This was such a let down after the extraordinary predecessors in the series. The Bad Seed, The Cool Bean and The Good Egg are all modern fables with a deep meaning and lesson to be learned about releasing anger, overcoming envy, and navigating anxiety. The all deal with big emotions and troubles with grace and empathy. The Great Eggscape was an unemotional story without the character development we’ve found in the rest of the series.Such a let down.

Did not meet my eggspectations
I usually love Jory John's books but this one felt like a long walk to a punchline that never came. Great artwork as usual from Pete Oswald!

Colourful
My son loves this series. However, this one falls a little flat. Lacked an important message as in like "cool bean" and his other books
