What a shocking ending 🤯
I laughed and cried throughout the whole book. The writer beautifully captures the land of Burma and the tale of their people and on the other hand the freedom struggle in India. There is no unnecessary exaggeration in the plot of any character. I would love all to read it once. Going to explore more works of this writer. Indeed Jnanpith award worthy!!😊Rating : 10/10

AN EPIC ! A SPEECHLESS MASTERPIECE!
To Me, one of the BEST EPICS written on India and Burma (Myanmar) and what EXILE means hit by the Second World War.It is a masterpiece Novel of AMITAV GHOSH and no matter how many times I read it, I fall in love all over again, I cry, I stay mesmerized for months and years with the characters living in me.J. M. Coetzee says on the novel : “An absorbing story of a word in transition, brought to life through characters who love and suffer with equal intensity.”

Emotional longing for many days to come!
I couldn have given it 10 stars if possible. Ghosh has this amazing ability to connect you emotionally. As I'm finishing this novel, I'm emotionally drained and promoted to write this review. The Glass Palace is about half a century long saga of India, Burma and British Raaj. Many themes explored thorough out the novel, exile of Burmese King to India, rubber plantation in Burma, National Movement, Japanese invasion, effects of World War 1 & 2 over these countries and all told in very humanely. surely one of the greatest works of Ghosh.A MUST READ!

It’s like a time travel in the history
Loved the book. It’s my fourth book of Mr. Ghosh after reading 1. Sea of Poppies, 2. River of Smoke and 2. Flood of Fire. All of these books take you back in the history of Indian subcontinent and south east Asia. A must read for those who love history with a flavour.

A Great Read
I didn't know what to expect, its a wonderful book. First I though it was too long, but by the time I finished reading it, I considered everything in the book was important. The book is about the life in Burma from the time the British took over the country until the country became independent. It is extremely well written.

CULTURALMENTE E HISTORICAMENTE

Another Ghosh Beauty
This is not a new book, but it is an absolute must read. Ghosh as ever writes in a way that keeps you turning pages, while giving you an incredibly erudite history of in this case Burma and Malaysia just before and during the Second World War. It is a complex story and Ghosh goes to the heart of the difficulties and complexities of human emotions, colonialism, war and nationalism. It is so accessible and can be read on many layers. I would recommend reading everything Amitav Ghosh has written.
