Fun drawing story book for boys.
My soon to be 10 yr old son likes to draw and read. And he also likes all things silly, adventurous and maybe a tad gross, such as slugs and spies in the jungle. He loves this book (that's big for a kid who also LOVES video games...). It is a draw your own adventure book (approx 80-90 pages, divided into chapters). The authors have provided the storyline and lots of drawings but they leave spaces for kids to finish illustrations and insert text in blank text bubbles. At times, the authors will suggest what to draw (add another giant slug) and at other times, it will ask a question about a situation in order to prompt the imagination ("what else is getting sucked into the ship?"). The pages are black and white with just a little color here and there so a child can even color the pages as well (I would suggest colored pencils as markers would bleed through, I think). If a child needs help with a drawing idea, there is a picture glossary (4 pages) in the back of the book. It gives great ideas and shows how to do a more detailed drawing. The book is suggested for age 7yrs and older and I would agree with that. Sometimes there are some picture words that my son needs help defining before he can draw an illustration.I would highly recommend the books. This is the 5th book in a series. My son is now working on book 3. There is also a series for girls called Magical Mix-Ups.
