When a light is switched on due to motion does this switch fade-in the light or does it automatically go to the last brightness setting immediately?

it is "programmable;" i.e., a hierarchy of fixed-choice menus.
unbelievable flexibility.  e.g., to answer this question, "all occupancy-based fade times are fixed."
(occupancy or vacancy means motion detection, of which it has two levels, one for larger motions
triggers the auto-on, the other for smaller motions doesn't auto-on but keeps it on)
click off and it remains off 25 sec, then goes back to normal (auto-on) mode.
for manual on/off (click button), fade in/out is settable from 0.75sec to 15 sec.  default is 0.75s.  
the brightness level for motion or manual can be set and fixed, or set to use the last manually set brightness
(with up/down buttons on side).  
it also has a dusk-to-dawn or "ambient light detection" so it won't go on during daylight, and
the level of daylight that triggers this is settable by an AI-like approach:  you just turn it on or
off when you find too little or enough ambient light and it learns what you like.
dbl-click turns it to max light, convenient.  hold button 1 sec and it triggers delay before off,
from 10 to 70 s, to leave lights on while you exit.  click (or auto) on and press up/down buttons
adjusts the light level.  it remembers this and uses it for future manual/auto on, or you can
set a fixed value for it to use.  can set dimming range, sensitivity of motion detection, timeout to 1, 3, 5, 15, or 30min.
impressive flexibility.  can also work in 3way setup.  of course, can reset to defaults.
see lutron's list of compatible bulbs.  of course, bulbs must be dimmable.
some leds might stutter at lowest brightness, so you can set it up a bit.

Whats the max time setting for no motion before the lights will turn off.

For those who don't yet know how it's programmed...To enter programming mode:1. Pull the tab out, located at the bottom of the switch2. Press and hold the main button3. Put the tab back in4. Let go of the main button after you see the left indicator light blinksOnce in programming mode, set the 'timeout' to be 30 minutes:1. The bottom indicator light should be on. If not, press the up/down buttons until the bottom one is lit; this is the 'timeout' setting2. Press the main button to select the 'timeout' setting3. The 3rd light from the bottom should then be lit; this is the default 5-minute setting4. Does the switch work silently or does it come on with do you hear the click of a relay when it comes on or goes off?

This is not a switch, it's a dimmer. This dimmer comes on silently yes, however if you need a switch instead, the switch does make a click, but the click is not really any louder than the click heard from a standard on/off switch.If you are controlling something that is not dimmable like a fluorescent, then this dimmer is not right and you should instead get the switch. Also I recommend getting the units that are Occupancy controlled versus vacancy as you will have more functionality options.
