Set nine months after the events of series one, Hidden is a dark Welsh drama that tells the story of a shocking murder. Siân Reese-Williams returns in the lead role as DCI Cadi John, opposite Siôn Alun Davies as DS Owen Vaughan. After the body of a former teacher is discovered in a house on an estate in the mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, DCI John and DS Vaughan are called in to investigate the case. Three local youths, Mia, Connor and Lee, are suspected to be involved in the murder, but the case becomes even murkier when rumours about the victim s previous misdeeds come to light. Alongside their work on the case, Series Two also delves into the personal lives of DCI John and DS Vaughan, the former coping with the recent death of her father and the latter getting to grips with caring for his newborn baby.

Brilliant!
Can't understand the responses of people who found this depressing/miserable. Firstly, would just like to point out by it's very nature the genre is not meant to be a light-hearted/ optimistic/bright and happy one.I found the whole thing really engrossing, superbly written and acted. I live in South Wales and feel that they captured the feel of the place really well. Most placesin UK just aren't middle class, surburban utopia,as is portrayed in many thriller/dramas,that's just fact. The story line was believable and relatable.Heart-wrenching at times.I felt so sorry for Connor and his mother. Every single actor portrayed their part well,to the point where you forgot it wasn't real and really believed in them while watching, and I thought the way the lead roles of the detectives were played was brilliant,no over acting, natural reactions to everything that was happening. The body language and timing as a reaction to every scenario was well thought out and portrayed, even to the point of minute, fleeting facial expressions. These things are important in making any drama believable, and I was impressed with how convincing they were.A definite 5 stars from me.Looking forward to series 3.Please say there'll be some more!A definate 5 stars from

Drab, depressing, dismal but .............
..........utterly compelling. The series was just as brilliant as the first, and benefitted from being six episodes long rather than eight. Cadi John is a dedicated no nonsense DCI on the track of some very nasty and unpleasant characters. Mia was particularly chilling, and by how much did her troubled home background account for her behaviour? As usual, the sky was dark, the weather wet and misty, and the interiors of buildings shabby and dark. As the events unfolded, you realised that some characters were good, struggling with making ends meet, and the garage was in need of a complete makeover. The garage owner was very good, and cared very much for his daughter, but we never discovered why she had a red mark on her face. Cadi John's assistant was slowly coming to terms with the home / work balance, and Cadi's sisters eventually agreed on what was needed. Now I think that there is scope for series three, and I would like to know what happened to the three perpetrators. I felt like shaking Callum often, as if the word " no" was not part of his vocabulary. But that was all part of the plot. Obviously two's company but three's a crowd. Some of the acting was so effective that I could not imagine the character being any different. The dual language format worked well, and as I used to live in North Wales it was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and such a joy to hear Welsh being spoken. The music was just as brilliant as before, and added a lot to the atmosphere of darkness and gloom. What a shame that there were no extras, so I hope that after series three - yes, please, - there will be some. There are no lighter moments, but with such wonderful acting and a slow but inspired unfolding of events it was well worth watching. Just as good as Hinterland, if not better. Da iawn, pawb. ( very good, everyone ).

Depressing Beyond Belief.
If it were possible I would not award a single star to this dire series. It is the most depressing I have ever viewed full of dreary, damaged, poverty-stricken, dark and sometimes evil characters. Unfortunately the landscape is the perfect backdrop for the hopelessly joyless people being dark, barren, rainy and windblown with not a hint of the beautiful Welsh countryside in sight.Even the plots are not for the easily-turned. I would imagine Hidden does for the Welsh tourist industry what Chernobyl did for the Ukraine's.It should be hidden in a dark cupboard forever.

Yeah, definitely a "Why done it"... :(
There is a series "Accused" that starts with the person arrested, etc. and the story is the"how did he get here". Kinda like this season 2 of Hidden. I like the main police team butbut I do not like this backward story telling style at all.Was interesting tho so I edged it to a 4 star instead of a 3 star rating.

Loved it
Came across this little gem during last years first lockdown. The “ scandi noir “ theme set in Wales . I loved it and watched both series 1 and 2 numerous times . Actually watched some of Anne’s Elwys other film roles off eye back of this .Great cinematography, beautiful use of the Welsh countryside and also shows places that aren’t on the tourist track ( council estates )Very much recommend

Good to watch
Excellent advert for Bangor and it's surrounding areas. Prity sure what they use as the police station is in real life a university building. The pace at the begining could have been a little bit faster.
