Static vs. Dynamic ropes
People, people people..... please know that ropes of this type come in two DISTINCT TYPES. Static and Dynamic. Ropes that are intended to arrest falls while rock climbing are Dynamic ropes, as they are designed to elongate during a fall. the elongation is significant and the history or record of each and every fall should be recorded and tagged on the rope. after a number of arrested falls the rope should be retired as a technical rope. A Dynamic rope is more suited for rappelling or abseiling. Great Strength and Abrasion Resistance but does not elongate nearly as much to arrest a fall.
