Levy'sLeathers 2 1/2" Leather Strap with Foam Pad,Walnut

Beautifully made soft leather. End pin hole tight and may need to be reamed out jut a little, but a tight fit is really what it’s all about. Levy’s may be slightly more expensive than the cheapies but worth the $$’s for serious players who have serious $$$$’s invested in a quality instruments (Martin M36, Gibson SJ-200, Taylor 814 CE Redwood and Guild F1512).

I have three Levy's Leather guitar straps,all with the foam backs. I purchased the first one for my Martin and liked it enough to buy two more for my electric guitars. The first one I bought was plain leather with the foam padditng. The other two were the style I am reviewing - one red (cranberry) and the other black. I really like the cutouts and stitching on this style and have gotten many positive comments. The foam backing makes the strap very comfortable for electric guitars that tend to weigh more than acoustics. I noticed two negative comments in other reviews that I would like to talk about: 1) the strap is too wide. The 2-1/2 inch measurement is the width of the top piece of leather. The foam backing, which is wrapped in leather, is wider. So the overall width is over 3 inches. I actually like the width. It makes the strap distribute the weight of the guitar over more surface area. Very comfortable.2) it doesn't look like leather. This is quality garment leather folks. Those who say otherwise must not have a great deal of experience with the good stuff.One other comment. I use Schaller strap locks and it is a bit of a challenge to install them on this strap because it is so thick. I had to cut a little bit of the leather away to make them work.I am looking to purchase one more in embossed lizzard print but maybe I will wait and see if I can get Santa to get it for me.

Just received my Levy's Leathers PM31-WAL Strap. It looks very nice. I chose black and walnut. It goes very well with 3 tone sunburst on my Fender Jazz bass. As others have mentioned, it is wider than advertised. I measured 3.25 inches instead of the 2.5 inch in the advertisement. Workmanship seems very good. Stitching very well done. The foam padding seems comfortable, I've not owned one with padding before. Also as mentioned, the openings to attach to your instrument are tight(good they all should be) but I still use a form of lock on all of mine. It seems very short. I'm not tall 5'8" and I've got the strap set as long as it gets and it's shorter than any of my other straps. At it's longest setting, it is almost 1 inch shorter than the strap it replaces and that one was set to it's shortest setting. Maybe they cut back size to trim costs instead of raising prices. It does sell for as high as $100. now and I don't see that they could get any more for it. I paid about 75 here on amazon. Note: price is now down to 69 dollars after I ordered mine ???? Aside from the length I think it's a good product and worth the price. Bob

Comfortable Guitar strap, also looks nice with my Guitar!

Just bought my 2nd Levy strap. I've probably had the first one for over 10 years, and still use it. My guitar of choice right now is a Gibson ES-5. It's a big puppy with a bit of weight to it, and the padding and feel from this strap is unmatched. I'm a 17 yr. gigging pro..... 4hr. solo gigs, and I'm standing up through it. The ONLY way I'm able to do that is with a Levy strap. A very well made, quality product.

The padded backing and width of this strap make it the most comfortable I have ever owned, and I have owned several brands, styles, materials in my 15 years of playing.The holes in the strap that fit over the strap bolts are extremely tight, which is great. I found it easiest to unscrew the bolts on my bass and slip them through the strap holes before reattaching to the the bass. Now for Quality.Overall I was a bit disappointed when I unwrapped my $60 strap expecting to find a nice soft, top grain leather with that nice leather smell. Instead, the leather looks more like a slightly shiny vinyl. The leather (if it really is) doesn't look as expensive in person as in the picture. It's hard to find a great comfortable strap so I will keep this one, but I wont know if it's worth $60 until I've had it for a while. If I had to do it again, I'd keep my money and buy something half the price, for-go "looks" and stick strictly with comfort.

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was expecting. I checked Levys website and knew exactly what I was getting. My JT 220 ct 6 sting, which isn't all that heavy at least not compared to some basses, is very comfortable slung around my shoulder. Very comfortable in fact. The leather is very good looking imho and for $60 I'm not sure you can get a better look/comfort combo. If you are looking a super high quality leather you aren't going to find it here. Is it a nice looking strap made out good garment leather and is again supremely comfortable and isn't that what we all want? Comfort? If you are looking for your strap to be more flash than comfort then get ready to shell out hundreds of bucks.
