Taildragger Tactics

I read Taildragger Tactics over the course of one week. I am a 5000 hour pilot with approximately 300 hours of tailwheel time. This is not the first book I have read on tail draggers. The knowledge in this book was presented in a way one did not have to be an engineer to understand. Information gained from this book filled areas of aviation knowledge I was lacking in and was an excellent review on other topics. I highly recommend this book to any pilot and especially pilots who fly tailwheel aircraft, excellent read!

Excellent book on flying conventional gear aircraft.

Obviously getting in a taildragger with an instructor is how you will learn to fly one. This book won't make you a great taildragger pilot just by reading it. In my very unprofessional opinion the best way to use this book is to pick a task (or a couple of them), review it, fly it, re-review it and fly it again.... repeat. Flying these machines can be done with a little dual time and without reading a thing. Where this book comes in VERY handy is in mastering all the little details and having the know how to handle all the situations you could (and some you probably never will) get yourself into. If you put your time into hands on learning what is in this book you WILL be a very well prepared, capable pilot.

Good reading lot of information

I have read several tailwheel books. This is the best. Filled with "rules of thumb" and techniques it is a valuable resource for any pilot.

The book is interesting because I have flown solo a taildragger (PA-18-160) before reading this book and saw a lot of things to learn in this book still ahead ;-).Greetings from Slovenia LCM

Book was very helpfull about the differences between the tricycle gear I have allways flown and the high performance kitbuilt airplane I bought recently . want to be safe with it understand it is a powerfull handfull.
