Best fuxing lock around
Love this thing it's convenient and looks great freed up space in my messenger bag and reduced weight which normally cause my bag to slip around. Haven't had any issues with the key like others say, you put the key in turn to the right unlock then turn key to left to lock. And as for the Velcro getting in the way like others complained about once again no issue just run chain through bike via the other end (side lock goes on when not securing Bike). This lock looks clean especially when you run the Velcro strap through the lock like when wearing it since then it blocks the key slot until you remove the Velcro. Really wish I had been more patient and got the gold rated hiplok when it went from 105 to 88 a couple weeks later but still would have had to wait a week for it which i couldn't wait since needed a new lock since my bike is my daily commuter. Highly recommend these locks

My favorite bike lock by far, but not quite perfect.
I really like this lock! It is the perfect way to carry a lock with you on a bike and the chain seems strong enough to keep your bike safe in a medium risk environment. There are two minor problems with it though. One, why add so much velcro to the nylon chain cover? I have a 32" waist and I don't use any of the velcro on the chain cover and in order to use it all you would have to be a very skinny child. The velcro isn't horribly grippy on clothes but it sticks to the lining on my jacket just enough to be occasionally annoying. Two, the lock is very picky about the position of the arbor and key when locking and unlocking, if you are a millimeter off it won't lock/unlock. If that somehow make the lock more secure I'm fine with it, but is is annoying.

Best lock EVAR!
My fiance and I have been using these hiplocks for months and, frankly, the convenience of wearing it as a (lightweight) belt instead of having to worry about wrapping a lock around parts of your body, bike or tossing it in a basket - or whatever - has been a godsend, a blessing. Not to mention, it's extremely well-made, very durable, and hip (no pun intended). HIGHLY recommend this for any sort of bike (cruiser or single-speed). They're not cheap, but... the convenience / cool factor is worth it in the long run. A must-buy for anyone looking for a bike chain/lock.P.S. If you live in an area with high bike theft, you will want to use this Hiplock in conjuction with a bike cable (to secure both front and back wheels to the frame).

Sturdy, Well-Designed Lick
Use it regularly. Carrying lock around waist works well. It's well made and appears to be an effective deterrent.

Novel and useful design, but a few quirks
This is good if you prefer chain locks over U-locks, want something you can trust, but don't want to carry 20lb of heavy chain. It's very convenient to haul around. The only downsides are that it's kind of a pain to lock, and the key is kind of tricky to put in. It's a pain when you're locking it up in the dark or don't have a lot of slack in the chain. If I were to purchase again, I'd get a longer version and see if the v 2.0 had a better design for locking it up.

Really great lock. I use this for my citizen foldable ...
Really great lock. I use this for my citizen foldable bike, and I live in NYC so I love the fact that i can wear it around my waist. Not super heavy, and offers great protection. I love the reflective touch, thats how I know I am seen. I also have a reflective helmet to be extra visible. All in all, awesome lock!

Great bike lock, very secure!
Been using this for a few months now and have had no complaints! I did a ton of research to find one that is sturdy, secure, and easy to travel with. The only hard part is getting used to locking it but once you get it down, it’s seamless.

Good but 2 issues
Great chain, seems very sturdy. However I have two issues with this. The first, it's not long enough. I can't even fit this around my front wheel and frame because it's too short. There are so many situations when I can't use this chain lock because it's simply too short. The other issue is the lock is a tiny bit fiddly and can be annoying to lock and unlock. I suppose that's the price you pay for it being secure. I have gotten a bit used to it now and am faster at locking and unlocking it.

Bike stolen, item cut through first time used
Am absolutely gutted, my beautiful mint condition specialised carbon ruby of 6 years, stolen from outside the doctors in 20mins, broad daylight with people around. Witness saw the thieves and thought it was their bike and they were unlocking it! Apparently took the thieves seconds to cut through - my insurance won’t pay out and I now don’t have my lovely bike. Wouldn’t recommend unless you want to take the risk :(

Padlock failed
In a Deliveroo rider and this lock is perfect for quick locks ups.BUT it failed me big time! The locking mechanism on the padlock failed, meaning my bike was locked to a lampost while I had an order to deliver. I had to return the delivery, which meant I lost the payment from that order.I had to ram the key in and out repeatedly and eventually the lock released. About 30 minutes had passed in this time which meant I lost around £10 in income. To avoid losing more income I had to spend the rest of my shift leaving my bike unsecured.Avoid if you want a reliable lock.

My bike was stolen
My bike was stolen, whilst being locked with this lock and another loop look. The only positive about this is that's what the insurance company will accept as a good enough lock.

but still fairly easy to operate
I have a 34 inch waist and a slightly larger stomach. The velcro barely closes. I would prefer to wear it slung over one shoulder and under the other but it's not quite long enough for that. The chain is long enough to do one wheel and the frame, and using the flexible nylon strap makes it easier to thread the chain through the gaps. The lock is a bit fiddly, but still fairly easy to operate.
