Attractive and Wearable Designs
As I have commented in previous reviews of mine for Kim Hargreaves' knitting books, I've been knitting from Kim's books for many years, including the Rowan Knitting books - where Kim was, until she branched out on her own, one of the main designers. Fortunately, I have always been very pleased with the finished results as her designs and the yarns she uses produce garments that have a stylish hand-crafted appearance, rather than looking like a homemade effort - which is important when the knitter is going to be spending time, energy and money on a project. My favourite of this particular collection is 'Fain', an oversized cable sweater (the 'v'' necked version is on the cover of the book, but I prefer the low round-necked version) knitted in Creative Linen; I also very much like 'Eila' a boat-necked cropped sweater knitted in Summerlite DK; and 'Aya', a short, fitted cardigan knitted in Handknit Cotton, has also taken my eye. There are, of course, more designs than those I have mentioned (12 in total) and if you want to see these in detail, do visit Kim's website or English Yarns, based in Shoreham, West Sussex, who have a easily navigable website where you will be able to see all of the patterns in detail and they also sell the materials needed to knit the designs, as do Laughing Hens who now sell on Amazon. John Lewis also sell a decent range of Rowan Yarns online.5 Stars.
