Briggs & Stratton 392989 Muffler For 9-16 HP Single Cylinder Engines

Put on a Briggs 10hp. It works fine but it is not as quiet as I would hope. Fine for a lawn mower but I would never put on a generator or something where noise is an issue. Says it goes up to a 16hp engine, that would be crazy loud for a muffler this size. I'd say up to 12hp your fine but would get something different for a larger engine.

Check that your Briggs and Stratton Engine has a threaded female connection opening or you may have to purchase an adapter which fastens to the two holes next to the connection point. As I had a threaded connection opening the only part I needed to buy was a length of pipe with threads at each end to suit the engine configuration.

It looks and feels like a quality muffler, but I guess you can't get a quiet muffler for a single cylinder engine!

Ummmm. Not much I can say about a small engine muffler. Briggs product, came quickly (next day) and was $12 less than the local small engine repais guys were asking for same item. Buy this one wtih fem 1" thread and add your own 1" extension pipe locally, exact length as needed

I have always believed that there is no company more American than Briggs and Stratton. Consequently, you might imagine how crestfallen I was when I discovered that this product was made in China!I believe that "buying Chinese" will destroy our country. I do my VERY best to buy American and feel deceived when I discover that an American company sells "made in china" goods.Shame on you, Briggs and Stratton!

Replaced broken muffler. This was an exact OEM fit and worked perfectly.
