Cameron Sino Replacement 750mAh Battery for Sony Reader PRS-300 Pocket Edition

I was given an old Sony PRS-300 with a battery so worn out it was unusable, bought this replacement and in less than five minutes it's working like new. Simple replacement although the wires are a little bit longer than the original. For anyone thinking of repairing a reader, the original battery and plastic edge was held in place with some fairly strong double sided tape and required a bit of force to remove and that isn't always shown in replacement guides you can find on youtube, just be firm but gentle when removing the parts and other than that it's straight forward and guides are easy to find on youtube.Hopefully this will last as long as the original did but so far it's holding charge and given a new lease of life to an old product that would've ended up in the bin so for less than ten pounds this is a great investment considering the cost of a new reader.

Compare the the price of a Sony battery and you have a bargain with this one. It was cheap as chips

Approached Sony as just outside guarantee period but just the inspection fee alone was more than the cost of the battery. The battery cost was nearly same as a new e-reader. Therefore I had nothing to loose. As well as the battery it was easy to find online video showing how to take my e-reader apart. The battery has now been in the reader for many months and working fine.

This has given a new lease of life to my reader, but the charge retention is nowhere as good as the original in the earloy days.

perhaps the battery life would be just as good or even better than the original, but since i was buying this battery to resell the e-reader, it wasn't really up to scratch - quite alot thicker than the original. see pictures for more info

Found 'How to fit' video on You Tube. One I found showed too few screws and was advertising its own replacement battery and fitting kit. Levering out the gusset is however, easily done with a thin flexible bit of plastic - I used a tablet blister pack. Relitivity idiot proof and gave my 'inherited' e book a new lease of life

Once I found the instructions on how to open the reader, the new battery was in and working in no time flat. Really pleased to be up and running again. The battery was exactly as described.
