After replacing the cable on my Inspiron 5558 it worked for first time. Then next time I saw smoke coming from laptop and found that motherboard got burnt near the part where the cable connects on motherboard.

Bought this cable to fix the issue of the laptop not detecting power adapter and so refusing to charge battery. Laptop was also running slow as the same issue restricts processor max speed to only 500 MHz. Speed issue was corrected by using a software called Throttlestop (look it up online for instructions) however there was no fix for the battery charging other than fixing the issue of power adapter detection. I had already checked the power adapter on another Dell laptop to verify that it was working well including its detection circuit and the tiny center pin. After narrowing down the issue with multiple test cases i ordered this cable on Amazon.This cable was found to be of good quality, looks like OEM grade and worked well on fitting. Battery is charging and laptop is running at normal speed. This is for the small diameter pin/socket and not the big one found on Dell Latitude laptops.I will recommend buying this socket. Bought for Rs. 489

Arrived next day, fitted perfectly, brought my laptop back to life. Couldn't ask for more.

I got it and the white bit was too long, so wouldn't fit

The old not a Dell power supply message was popping up so I new that the power jack had failed. Next step find a replacement jack. The description of this one includes the model number of my laptop so what could be wrong. Well, apparently lots can be wrong. The computer connector end is the wrong size. The connector on this one is almost twice the size of the required one. Also the cable is way to long, There is no way to make it fit in the small space available in the laptop. and the connector could not be trimmed to fit the motherboard connector. Not worth the hassle to return so I cut the wires of the wrong one that I received and the original one. Carefully soldered, heat shrunk and wrapped the wires. Installed the Frankensteined connector and it worked. The trouble to cut and solder the wires was less then the trouble to return. It works now. But because the description does not reflect the models properly a product deserving of a one star review. In the picture the short on with the small connector is the one I removed from the laptop and the big one is the one I received. I wish Dell would just supply the part number for these parts so that it would be easy to find the correct replacement because it is obvious that the going be the computer model number does not work.

Mia madre ha un dell Inspiron 3558 (se non erro) non riusciva più a caricare il pc è andata in 2 negozi che riparano pc vicino a casa ed entrambi gli hanno detto che non si poteva più fare nulla se non comprare un pc nuovo.A quel punto ho preso quel pezzo montato in 15-20 minutiIl pc funziona al 100%8€ contro il parere di chi dovrebbe aggiustare i pc e ti dice che ne devi comprare uno nuovo…

Il jack aveva cominciato a non rilevare più correttamente il voltaggio del caricabatterie (originale). Ordinato il pezzo e fatto montare presso un negozio di riparazione.Nessun problema al momento, la batteria viene caricata e non ci sono più avvisi di errore da parte del bios.
