What If It's True?: A Storyteller’s Journey with Jesus

An Important Book for the Believer and the Unbeliever!
I would give it 6 stars, if I could. I have walked with the Lord Jesus for over 40 years, and have been involved in serious Bible Study most of those years. There are very few books, outside of God's Word, that have impacted me as much. C.S. Lewis; "Mere Christianity" for sure, but few others. It is intensely personal and intensely honest. Mr. Martin is very upfront where expressing his own interpretation, but his beautiful prose added new dimensions to my understanding of parts of Jesus' ministry. The description of Jesus leaving and returning to the throne room of heaven brought me to tears, as did his chapter on the cross. The chapter on resignation was an eye opener, and yes, I have kicked the punk out of my life. I have heard of generational sin, but never before has anyone explained the Biblical basis for it. Now I understand, and given my rather colorful ancestry am better prepared to deal with it. Beautiful prayers of application are included at the end of each chapter, and I will most certainly be reading again even more slowly and prayerfully. Thank you, Charles Martin for giving us a book that can deeply touch both the believer and the unbeliever. Yes, it is all true, every word. JCILOA!

Most Inspiring Book
I didn't know exactly what to expect when I started to read this book. I have read all of Charles Martin's novels and loved every one but I knew this one sounded different. I quickly discovered that Mr. Martin wrote this book under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and it has touched my heart as no other book has. It is very inspiring to me as a Christian and I read it as part of my daily Bible study. I recommend it to all Christians, and I also highly recommend it to others who may not have knowledge of the Bible because Mr. Martin tells the Truth in plain language that anyone can understand.

I highly recommend this book!
A couple of things you need to know about this book from the start: it is not a quick read. Martin himself asks his readers to linger, read slowly, write in the margins. I could only handle about one chapter a week. To benefit the most, you'll need to wrestle things out, mull over what Martin has written, and see how you can apply it to your own life.Next, this is not an easy read (which I alluded to above). It's deep, it's convicting. If you are serious about getting to know the God of the Bible personally and deepening that relationship, this book will be a big help along the way.I have a list of people with whom I want to share this book. There is so much good stuff in it! I'll also need to re-read it before very long. Martin has done an amazing job of pulling together verses from all over the Bible, showing how they are related, and opening up new insights to the reader. This is a very practical book. Martin offers ways in each chapter to apply what he's written – things he's already done in his own life and with his accountability group.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I think you missed the love part of it and are still to judgemental. Bestiality and homosexuality are not the same thing. God made 1 in 10 people homosexual. They don't choose this burden. God makes them this way, you are promoting hate not love for all of these peop!e. My daughter and I went to church to pray it away. How judgemental and unloving was i. I did not understand until she tried to commit suicide rather then hate herself . People that choose this burden don't exist. They exist with this burden and I choose to love them as I feel Jesus would hav e me do.
What you choose to do in your book was make yourself superior by comparing them with humans and beasts degrading them so they will be hated. Hate leads to killing. If Jesus made 1 in 10 gay, he wants to know how I will react, I will react with love and not go to church with a bunch of haters.

Stunning
I have read all of his books. Each year I look forward to the next one(s), often enjoying his writing on vacation, and passing his books around to friends, my dad, and my wife. Then this book was published and smacked me square in the jaw. There’s no mystery in why he wrote the book - he feels a burden to share his faith for the love of God- but there is a mystery about why this book now and not sooner or later. I need to stretch out on my back, in the living room, staring at the ceiling, and reread parts of it while praying. Amazing grace is not an easy gift, and that’s my takeaway tonight.

This book touches the soul. I highly recommend it if you are a Christian or if you are nott.
I absolutely love this book. I find myself reading it aloud, as if I am reading a script for a play with all the dramatization! I also like the fact that each chapter contains scripture references in the back. Appendix A and appendix B are also very helpful. I have also written all in the book, highlighting things, well, many many things that are important to remember. The prayers at the end of each chapter are so emotional to read but I love the honesty in them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is a Christian or not, if not you will learn so much about Jesus and the gospel in this book!

Charles Martin has done a masterful job of handling a crucial truth in our lives. Awesome!
An excellent, understandable, well written, beautifully explained handling of the most crucial topic ever. I highly recommend this book and will buy many more to give to people searching as well as those needing help in preparing themselves to discuss the elements that make this book such a must read. You owe it to yourself to read this book. Also, the Audible version which is read by the author is even better. He adds more value to be book by his handling of reading it himself. Bravo, Charles Martin!

One of my all time favourites!
I have enjoyed Martin’s fiction books and thought I would give this a book a read when it came up on sale as an e-book. I didn’t want to put it down! He does an excellent job of telling the biblical stories of Jesus and incorporating his personal thoughts and experiences. I have already ordered 4 copies to give away to friends and family. I highly recommend it to believer and sceptic alike. I am so very thankful for his humility and vulnerability in relating his personal faith journey.
