Good bumper step
This is a good bumper step. It is heavy duty and well made. It is large though and sticks out quite a bit. If you are prone to hitting your shins on things like this it might be too big. I like it though and would by it again.

Just what I need!
I Installed this on my 2025 Ford Maverick XLT. It fits perfectly and very durable . I’m a senior and this makes it easy for me to get up in the back of my truck when I need to. It also looks great too! Highly recommended!

Fragile aluminum top.
Buy one that is all steel. When I tightened the bolts that hold the top surface on, one of the bolts pulled right through the thin aluminum extrusion. The rest of it it steel. I used a washer to fix it. I'm not sure how long the aluminum top will last.

Protection for your rear bumper and a convenient step up for washing a larger vehicle
I love the MaxxHaul hitch step. It fit fine into my 2 inch hitch receiver (a little wobble but not bad) and I suspect it would be great protection if another car makes contact (at slow speed) with your car's rear bumper (think someone backing out of parking space behind you or pulling too far forward when parallel parking) or if you back up too far into something. If it saves expensive damage to the rear bumper, then it's be worth much more than it's cost, even if it needed to be replaced. I also use it as a step for when I wash my SUV. It's so much more convenient that climbing onto a step stool. BTW, it looks pretty good too and has dual reflectors to make it more visible at night. I don't usually even notice it anymore though, when I back up, it does get captured in my backup camera view so I am aware then that I've extended my bumper out just a little bit. I'm definitely happy with this purchase.
