Nelly Arcan is a national treasure in my opinion. This book is not for the faint-of-heart - it is brutally honest, thought-provoking and utterly compelling. What an astonishing talent!!!

As a writer, I have only envied the writing of three other writers and they've all been French. Nelly Arcan is one. This is hard going, this is rage, this is despair. Her writing is akin to vomiting. She was a singular talent, her stature as a Canadian author (not just Québécois) is vastly underrated.
