I was extremely surprised just how good this Gambeson is, not just in terms of the overall look but also how well it is put together. If you are seeking something that has a good historical "look" then this is a great addition to any ensemble! I am incredibly happy with this Gambeson.ATTENTION: I should not have to state this and still I feel compelled to do so. PLEASE, please, do NOT mistake this as actual armor! Even a historical Gambeson was the choice of LAST RESTORT for protection when soldiers went into battle.

So I use this gambeson weekly and also use the arming points. It does the jobs. I want to lead with that, but I want to be honest about the product. I am not super pleased, but I have been able to fix many of the issues myself. Firstly, all of the ties that were provided, were cut shoes stings. And not good shoes strings, cheap stings that tear easily. On one half of each string is plastic capped end (just like on shoes) and the other end is just cut and left to fray. The strings used to tie the center across the chest and stomach together are not capped at all, though they are a bit better than shoe strings. They are fraying as well, and are difficult to thread repeatedly as they continue to fall apart. The stitching in the arms has torn in some places around the pits, because it was stitched using a low grade string. I expect things to fall apart when I am wrestling in them, that is bound to happen, but I would like to feel like it is not a sure thing. My biggest issue is that the grommets (the metal circlets that that put holes in the armor for the arming points) all over the piece are very cheap and have small "teeth" on the inside. I have on many occasions cut myself putting this on, and it has left my wrists and hands bleeding. They are easily replaced, but I should not have to replace something for safety reasons in something as simple as a gambeson. Nobody makes my bleed my own blood.

The gambeson fits well and is good quality. I would definitely recommend this product. I can't wait to wear it to the renessance fair this weekend!

This is my first gambeson, so I can't compare it to others. That being said, I asked for the HEMA standard, in the contact seller section after you make a purchase, and got a prompt response. I'm 6'2 and slender, and wanted a tight fit so I hesitantly chose the small, for the 38" wide chest. The thing is, it was still 28" long, that's as long as the extra large, and I'm thin, not short. My arms felt fine in the 23" sleeve, tho they got 25" sleeves if you need em longer. I'm very happy with what I received. Well, here it is, in all it's glory.
