Exciting!
If Gregg Olsen’s name is on the book cover then you know it’s going to be good! “Snow Creek” doesn’t just draw you in. It SUCKS you in! When you first start reading you’ll think that it’s going to be a nice, pleasant read. Ha! That doesn’t last long. Right away, you’re flipping pages to find out what is going to happen next! Typical Gregg Olsen: FABULOUS!

Prepare to get hooked.
I didn't get into it right away but somehow couldn't switch to something else until I finished it. Be warned - the ending is a hook to get the next in line but if it's like the first you won't regret. Really weird stuff in this one, which has me wondering about next one. I'm about to find out...

Hard to put down.
And why should you! It's another good read from Gregg Olsen. Just don't expect all your questions to be answered. Got to go now and find more answers.

Flashes of Brilliance but Tired Themes
Olsen's writing is talented. He has a flare for witty observations and describes scenes well. He also does a good job communicating emotion and, for a man, it seems that he also describes women in his novels well without being overly patronizing to them or condescending.I felt disappointed with the plot overall because it felt like so much of it came down to timely reveals and unpredictable flourishes. I also felt like the book drew off of all of the popular themes and stereotypes -- things like the hero as a victim with a sordid past successfully outrunning it and the dark influence of religion over some people. In parts it felt even a bit preachy against these things. It also did not help that it felt like the story was not fully resolved in the end. However, the overall style of writing was not bad and I do not regret picking it up. I'm just not particularly eager to read another one of his books -- at least not this series.

Creepy! As always.
I like books by this author, who is also a real crime writer. While some of the situations seem somewhat unrealistic, I wound up wondering if they were loosely based on true situations. The story introduces us to a new heroine, Detective Megan Carpenter, a detective with her own past who is now working for a small town police force in the remote Pacific Northwest. She is approached by a fundamentalist woman who is concerned about her sister, who is also a fundamentalist living off the grid in Snow Creek. Several stories come together here: that of a lesbian couple also living remotely and who discover a body and conceal it, as well as other colorful characters who have chosen this lifestyle. Too many details would lead to spoilers, and I hate those reviews, but I will say that while some of these characters are unbelievable, I suspect that they are more real than I'd like to think. It was an interesting glimpse into strict, paternalistic Christian faiths and the problems with this (some will hate this book as a result) and the novel has several twists and turns. As other reviewers state, it does end on a cliffhanger, but in my opinion, not one that interfered with the solving of the crime at hand and the conclusion if the main mystery. I eagerly await the next in this series.

Impossible to put down!
It has been a while since a book has kept me up reading well into the night, but this book has done it! The story grabs you from the very beginning and doesn’t slow down. Ready for your next adventure? Then read on!

Leaves you wanting more
Megan has a story to tell and killers to bring to justice. I instantly like Megan. I'm glad there are 3 more books. Mr. Olsen narrates a story so well. He sprinkles anecdotes when it seems details have gotten too heavy. I love his writing style. (My 6th book this week). On to the next.

A Bit Confused
I like Gregg Olsen’s storytelling, but it was a bit confusing at times with new characters added. Some characters were introduced and I was left confused by the name changes. I still am confused about Regina and Amy.
