Thomas the Train: Take-n-Play Troublesome Truck Talking Engine

As an initial word of warning, it should be noted that this particular product is NOT compatible with the wooden Thomas the Tank Engine toys. Also, this product is NOT compatible with the wooden railroad tracks that are availabe for Thomas the Tank Engine products. In a nutshell, this product has a smaller scale (the gauge is narrower) than for the wooden Thomas the Tank Engine products that most people are familiar with. Thus, you will NOT be able to set this product on the wooden tracks, or to latch this product with the wooden cars.This particular product does not contain any wood. However, the reason is that this product contains internal mechanical and electrical mechanisms. One of the cars is configured to rock up and down and up and down, in the manner of a see-saw, as it is drawn over a track or a table. The see-sawing car has a worried face. Mister Worried Face's coal car is empty. Underneath the coal compartment, which is entirely metal, is a red plastic platform, and under that are plastic wheels. The metal coal car has neatly painted black-colored slats. The other coal car has a happy face. This coal car is filled with coal, or so it seems. The pile of simulated coal at the happy face side of the car has some loudspeaker holes, and over towards the back of the car, is an elegant button, where the button cannot immediately be detected by any child or even adult. The button is cleverly devised so that it seems to be part of the pile of coal. At any rate, where the child accidently activates the button, the happy face car speaks. The English language is nicely recorded and clear, apparently making use of the latest in toy-technology. With repeated depression, the coal car says different things: "WE LIKE CAUSING CONFUSION AND DELAY," or "HEH-HEH-HEH-HEH, HA-HAAA," or "PULL, PUSH, BACKWARDS, FORWARDS." The voice is like that of a typical unigender cartoon character. The product comes with a tiny paper sheet showing how to change the batteries.

The Take-n-Play products are generally very well-made and these are no exception. They are very sturdy and should hold up to the roughest play. The sound quality is surprisingly good and and "wobbly" car is cute. Overall, a great addition to our scores of engines and cars.

These Thomas the Train Take N Play pieces are well crafted and can handle alot of abuse. I would HIGHLY recommend these to any parent whose child enjoys trains. My son has been playing with these since he was 18 months old.

These railroad cars are just as cute as they look online. My grandson was very excited to get these cars as he enjoys the havoc they cause on the "Thomas" adventures. If you are looking for another "Thomas" toy to add to your child's collection, you can't go wrong with these!!

We noticed that Santa had brought only engines for Christmas. We had nothing for them to pull! It was silly to link a bunch of engines together, so we purchased the Troublesome Trucks and the two coaches, too. Many people may think that the lines that the trucks say are cute, but my kids and I just find them annoying, so the button doesn't get pushed unless by accident.

this was a git for my grandson who is an avid Thomas fan. He loves it! This engine was hard to find and i would purchase from Amazon thru this seller again-- was a flawless transaction and the product is great!
