The recoil spring is lame....and fit for a mouse or rabbit....
The guts of this device is surely the recoil spring to retract the leash cord.....this recoil is really a weak design and it's beyond me that with all the other quality materials in this product that the spring takes a back seat. The lack of a strong spring means that the slack in the leash cord winds around the legs of your pet and you spend alot of time unwinding this slack and hoping your animal survived the tangle...won't buy another one ever.

Works for us.
We have two puppies, a Rat Terrier mix and a Jack Russell mix. Full of energy! At this point they weigh only about 8 pounds each, but they give this leash a workout. It has got jammed a couple times because the tape folded over but it was easy to get fixed. I really like it. All I added was an old dog collar to the handle so I can Loop it around my wrist. Fast shipping too...

Control Button Doesn't Lock and Release Easily
It would be even better with a better thumb-control feature. Getting the control button to lock or release isn't easy. A kid would have trouble with it, especially under an "emergency" like a car coming down the street and the dog owner needing to quickly shorten the leash. I have a grown Mountain Cur that can be very powerful, like, when he see's a cat. I'm 6'4" but only 190 lbs. and that dog will pull me off my feet. But if the leash is fully extended, it allows my dog to reach a full gallop which could separate me from my teeth. A quick, shortening leash helps, but not if it can't retract flawlessly. Are any dog leashes better made? This is my second one but my first was a different brand. My dog tore the nylon fiber leash in half! Pow, just like that. I'm searching for the leash that's right for us.

Heavy duty
This leash is heavy duty compared to our last one. We have a 32 lb Beagle mix and she chewed through her old leash in the car. So far, this is the best leash we have ever owned. It's comfortable to hold, though a little heavy. The leash is a really good length so my dog has access to more of the yard for running. She hasn't tried chewing through this one yet, so I can't determine that durability, but I have dropped it on the floor several times and it hasn't broken yet!

Sturdy but maybe has a retracting spring that’s too weak for the lead.
I liked the length of the leash and the sturdiness of the spring hook, but I found it to be kinda noisy when it is extending out and reeling back in. It also lost the ability to fully retract, leaving about 18-24” of the leash hanging out after only 3-4 uses. It may be that way because the leash material is wide, like a typical fixed length leash, and that was what originally made my decision to purchase this style, but I’m going to try another 26’ leash with a cord instead of a band. It may be that the spring isn’t strong enough for the weight of the lead. This still may serve a need for me when I take my pup to one of the county parks and having it be able to fully retract won’t be a problem.

I really like these styles
It's a good leash. Extra 10ft length for more play. I'm also a fan of the ribbon style of the leash. I walk 3 biggish dogs (lab, golden doodle, and bloodhound) at a time with the girlfriend and it's nice to be able to see the leash coming at you when the dogs are running around. The string style ones can sneak up on you and before you know it your hogtied. I bought this same leash under a different brand and they're identical and i'm happy with both.

Good product
I like this leash. It’s longer than others I’ve had. It is sturdy. I have PWCorgis and it works great for them. Any smaller dogs and I think the clip would be too heavy- it’s a good strong clip. . It springs out and retracts with ease. The stop button works well. I like that I can lock it to any length I want. I would buy it again.
