I have never try to shred a CD but does credit card very good. It is Dan outstanding shredder. Best I have ever had for my home use.

Q: I want reviews for the aurora au1460xa and not the au1220xa which is 99% of what is shown. please separate these reviews!

I purchased this model "AU1460XA" about a month ago and it is just about perfect. I'm cleaning out decades of personal files and records and to date have probably shredded close to 200 lbs of paper documents. It is fast (up to 14 sheets), but I generally just insert six to twelve sheets at a time. It is much quieter than my old 5-sheet Aurora which I've used for more than a decade. I have yet to have a single jam, the features like auto-reverse are nice to have. Indicator lights tell when to empty the bin, which is very easy with the slide out abilities. I like the fact that the unit is on rollers too. This is a great shredder that can run for up to two hours without overheating. I haven't run it even half that time though. Really I wanted a shredder that could handle reasonable volume, and I'm very happy with this. Local shredding companies charge a dollar a pound... this has paid for itself in under a month!

Q: How long will it run in continuous shredding mode before turning off to cool down? How long does the cool down time last?

You can run approx. 20-30 min continuous before thermal circuit kicks in. Cool down time is approx. 30-45 min To prevent unit from overheating; after 10 minutes of shredding, let unit rest for 5 minutes

Q: Will a paper bag fit in the bin to collect the shredded paper, so as to avoid lint and dust from emptying the bin and allow easy recycling?

I think a paper bag will fit and that is a great idea!
