A Season of Angels: A Cape Light Novel

A Very Pleasant Christmas Surprise
I have to admit with the death of Thom Kincade, I was a bit surprised about this book coming out. Maybe it was already in the works but there was nothing in the prologue that said anything about this. However, the information about Thom was written in a past tense. I always though that the co-writer Katherine Spencer (not her real name) was the main writer. I guess it really does not matter because the end product is what is important and it is wonderful. My mom read the book and thought it was one of the best in the series and I have to agree with her.The book brings in the people from the other series Angel Island, and weaves a magical tale of a miracle that happened way back in the founding of Cape Light. A serious contagious fever hit the pioneers of Cape Light with a vengence. Many people died and the decision was made to put these people in quarantine on Angel Island. Supposedly a miracle happened and a mysterious group of people came and helped these people get well. That is the basis of the story as a grad student comes to the Inn at Angel Island to find out what really happened. He meets a local girl and we have a lovely romance. There is also another story going on as Joe and his brother are at odds for years and their 90 year old mother is trying to finally get the family back together. However, nothing goes smooth and Sam and Molly, Joe's children are at each other's throats. It does take a Christmas miracle to illuminate the circumstances of hundreds of years ago and also to make thngs right with Joe, his brother, and family. Bad things can be mended at Christmas time. This is a lovely story of hurts and slights and difficult times that are healed through the love of Christmas and possibly an angel or two. I highly recommend this book as a lovely read for the CHristmas season.

Another fabulous Cape Light novel!!!
I loved this book, as much as all the ones which preceded it! The story of Adele Morgan, whose sons, Joe and Kevin, had been at odds over their father's decision to leave his hardware store to Kevin, an alcoholic, rather than Joe. As a mother with two sons, who are many times at great odds with each other, I fully understood and empathized with her pain, and her wish to bring them back together. Adele was on a timeline, as she was already 90 years old, and felt time was running out and she may not have much time to achieve her goal. She tried everything she could, including enlisting the help of her grandchildren, Molly and Sam, but nothing was working. Then, Adele pulled back, thinking she may not get her wish, and that it was up to God. She even decided it was time to go back home to Vermont. It was then that God pulled it all together, putting it on Joe's heart that he was wrong, and that it was time to mend fences with his brother. This story is a wonderful reminder that we cannot work in the flesh to achieve our goals....that we need to cast our cares on God...that He works for our good in His time, not ours! Wonderful story, very inspirational....and sadly, Thomas Kinkade's last...I will miss him so much! Rest in Peace Thomas!!! Thank you for all the beauty, wisdom and love you displayed in your life, and shared with all of us!!!

Family Reconciled
Another great story in the Cape Light Series. This time it is about a divided family and all the anger they harbor. It is the journey of an aging mother and her two sons and their families. I found this book easy to read and so interesting it was hard to put down. It's a great book for any woman to read and even for young teenagers although they might not find it as exciting to read.

Kincade is always worthwhile
I love this whole series of books that they have done over the years. I wondered after he had passed on this year if the one this past April and this one would be published, and what it would be like but you would never know, if you did not know he was not part, or at least part of this one in Dec. because there was not one misstep in the story. I love these books, the period, people and the way they have followed the lives in a continum. It would be a great library series for a church but so many do not see a need, or have resources for one. I do not like books on kindle because you cannot pass them around for others to read. for me my kindle is of no use for books, unless I find something that is just a $1 or so. I do not waste any money on books for kindle. you are wasting money if you read a book and don't read it, or don't need it for a resource or to study later. i always share, pass along or donate books to places I know they will be read by many people.

Really liked it
Predictable but good. Easy to read. Interesting. Now that Thomas Kinkade passed away, will Katherine Spencer continue the two series? It seems to me that Season of Angels united the two series and finished open to a new book of the Angels Island series.Hope so, I really waited for the two series to come out every year. I will miss them.

Magical!
I have read at least 6 books of the Cape Light series. I've loved each and every one of them. Thomas Kincaide's books are as beautiful as his paintings. His characters are memorable and the town of Cape Light is a town that I would want to live in. It seems like a magical, beautiful, old-fashioned town, with old-time values and ideals.Even though the ending of this book was a little predictable, I still enjoyed "being" in the town of Cape Light and meeting the character Jonathan, Tess, Adele and others.I'm looking forward to reading other books from Thomas Kincaide and hope that Katherine Spencer continues the series!
