Geart for lows/mids - without booming your ears out
I wanted a really rich, full sound in my car without having the terrible boom of double 12"s in the trunk. I went that route when I was in high school, but I prefer a more well-rounded sound now.My setup consists of an Alpine CDA-9835 head unit (wired directly to the battery), running in 3-way mode sending a total of 52W RMS to each component set of the Polk DB6501 speakers I have installed in my front doors. The rear doors house these Pyramid W64's, and all the doors have custom MDF baffles installed. I'm powering these with a Blaupunkt EMA 255.I turned on the amp's high pass filter to only allow frequencies above 80kHz to the speakers. The speaker's specs state they'll go down to 60Hz, but I'm fine sending only 80Hz and above to them. I set the low-pass on my head unit for the W64's at 200Hz. These speakers effectively play 80-200Hz in my setup, in the rear doors. The Polk DB6501 front stage plays from 150Hz to 20kHz. This keeps the majority of the sound stage in front, while getting the 'feel' of the low frequencies to fill the car. These speakers really fit the bill. They sound very clear, and for the price I paid, I really didn't expect them to sound this good. They provide a nice, clean low end without blowing my ears out. Live concert music sounds absolutely fantastic on this system, and these W64's really seal that deal, with their glorious resonance.Don't buy some name brand hundred dollar speakers. Save your money and get these hidden gems.EDIT: I've had these speakers for about three months now, and I have to say, they sound AMAZINGLY good after they're broken in! I turned up the bass boost on the amp that's running these speakers, and these two 6.5" door speakers seriously sound like I'm running a 10" subwoofer in the hatch of my car. The awesome part? I lose no cargo space, yet I still have this fantastic sound. These things absolutely pound in my doors, but it's not so overbearing that it upsets my stomach (like loud 12" subs do). Live music has an incredibly rich low end, and it continues to amaze me that I got these speakers so cheap. The only thing I'm worried about now is blowing apart the MDF spacers I built for them!

Budget kings, IF you know what you're doing.
Until you get into your focals, german maestros, etc, its hard to beat this speaker. NOW! With this caveat. You need a tweeter, and more preferably a midrange/tweeter.So my system. 2008 toyota solara convertible. I have a 230$ set of Kenwood XP6902c 6x9 front door/2.5" midrange in dash. A pioneer d9705 5 channel amplifier. The midranges have their own 2 channels. But the other 2 channels, have the 6x9 woofer front, as well as this pyrmaid in the rear & parallel to be 2ohms. 12" alpine type x in the trunk. The woofers have a 1.5khz crossover 'pioneer active network' at 18db.The system never really came alive, and excited me, until I installed these Pyramid woofers in the rear door panels. Now if you're mostly listening to rap/modern pop sounds, you probably won't see where this woofer shines. But if you listen to actual music, rock/bluegrass/country/Christian, etc, that 60-200hz bass helps so much. I haven't heard this kinda bass from a door speaker since the original mb quarts before 09. Bass that either doesn't sound good in a trunk, or subs really aren't meant playing this high to.I'll admit, this is my 3rd pair. My first two were in a 08 accent, that I believe had a faulty ground that froze every single rear speaker in the car. But these speakers impressed me so much, I had to try them again in my solara convertible. So glad I did.I do recommend amping these. I do have 70w, and these handle it just fine. But I also reccomend these as a 3 way, or as rear speakers. If you could cross these over at 1-2khz, perfection. But they are rated to play up to 3.6khz, which will cross with many large tweeters fine. Would not low pass them lower than 62hz. 80hz preferably. These are the first woofers I can tell someone, try these before getting a subwoofer. Fantastic for the money. With a active crossover network and tweeter, this is a budget king setup. The bass is better than my 230$ kenwood 6x9s.

Great speakers for the price incorrect specs
Just installed these into my subaru sti today. Originally had Alpine SPX 17REF components in the front doors until both the mid-bass cracked from contacting the doors....I bought these cause they were cheap and couldnt find any decent 6.5" mid-bass speakers. Still using the alpine tweeters and crossovers, and I must say these speakers sound great! Maybe a little less bass than the alpines but I really wasnt expecting much for 15$ and I am very happy with my purchase.Only issues are that the mounting depth is definitely deeper than 2.5" luckily I had some 1" speaker spacers lying around. Second problem was that they didnt fit into any of the 6.5" speaker spacers I had!!! They are a bit too big, I don't know what the guy was saying when he thought these were 6.2".....the spacers needed to be heavily shaved down to accept these speakers. After all the work it was still worth it

Excellent speakers! Re
I've been very impressed with these pyramid speakers. I used a pair to replace some old bookshelf 6.5in speakers. Added a ribbon tweeter and 2 way crossover and polly fill, which makes these book shelf sound incredible. Comparable to my infinity reference bookshelf 6.5in silk dome tweeter 2 ways. They might not be able to handle as much power as the infinitys but for mid level movies and music in a small room, sounds perfect!I also ran a couple of sets in my car with crossovers, tweeters powered with an amp! Worked very well and loud for 4 years. I play them hard with a lot of metal and rock. Never had an issue with them blowing or popping at all like other reviewers claimed.
