Happy with purchase
I am happy with my purchase of the Emjoi epilator. It was my first experience with an epilator, and I bought it primarily to remove hair from my neck, chin and upper lip. I get these areas threaded every few weeks. However, now that I am pregnant, I am finding that the hair grows more rapidly than before. It costs about $30 every time I go to get threaded (I usually have my brows done, too). I have been trying to find a way to take care of the lip, chin and neck myself, to save some money. I tried home wax kits, and found that for some reason, the wax wouldn't stick to most of the hairs on my neck. Tweezing takes forever. Shaving is not going to happen, because I am prone to ingrown hairs, and not interested in having a 5 o'clock shadow. So, this is what brought me to the epilator.I was afraid that the epilator would hurt. It looks like a torture device. I was pleasantly surprised!First of all, if you are having any part of your face threaded, you know that it is the most painful method of hair removal ever devised. It hurts WAY more than waxing, and it takes longer too, as they have to make several passes over the same swatch of skin. In particular, the bit of fuzz in the center of your upper lip is the most painful to remove. The threading process actually causes me to break out into a sweat. The first time I got threaded, I thought that I was bleeding. I am more used to it now. I go to this salon because the woman does an amazing job on my eyebrows (thanks to her, I could be an eyebrow model, if such a thing even exists). Anyway, I digress. The point is, epilating my lip, neck and chin did not hurt at all. I am so used to pain from the hair removal process, that it didn't even register. I was elated. Also, epilating appears to be pretty effective. It took a few passes to get the hair out, and then there were maybe 4-5 that I had to get with a pair of tweezers. But, I have to say, it was WAY better than trying to tweeze the whole mess. Plus, I found that epilating takes cares of the small, fine hairs completely, in a way that tweezing does not (usually, when I tweeze, I can only get the obvious, coarse hairs). So, I recommend this product. I purchased it because it was cheap and small, and I only wanted to use it on limited areas. It was a low-risk purchase. Now, I have to say, I am so happy with the epilator I bought, that I may buy a larger model and give doing my legs a try.The only CON: when I pressed against the skin, trying to get a tricky hair out, the rotating part slowed down, and the epilator was not effective. It just doesn't have that much power. Maybe you don't need it, but I think that the bigger models may be more efficient. I did find that I needed to go over the same spot several times before it would catch the hairs. I was hoping it would be a faster process. I can't say whether it was this product or not, maybe it is an issue common to all epilators. However, I suspect that a larger, more expensive model may offer more RPMs, and may do the job quickly and more thoroughly.

It Works For What I Wanted.
I ordered the Epi Slim in order to remove the hair under my arms as shaving caused dark shadows, waxing hurt and irritated the area, and creams didn't work.It took about five days to arrive, which was fine as I selected the 3-5 day option. I was really excited to try it out; given that shaving was my primary method of hair removal, and given that it causes dark shadows, I have been very embarrassed about wearing sleeveless shirts and dresses. The device was in good condition when it arrived, and all it took to get it started was inserting two AA batteries into the easily accessible battery case and switching it to the 'on' position. My hair had grown out for about two days prior to use. I soaked a clean white cotton towel in hot water, then applied to my underarm for about thirty seconds. My underarms were clean of any deodorant, lotion, etc. I used the Epi Slim in short strokes to begin with, and in small circles later. It did hurt, but not excessively. Much much much better than waxing. I kept reapplying warm water onto my skin throughout the process.I got my left arm pit almost completely done and only managed a small part of my right arm pit before I ended for the day. The stinging pain (very light, not sore) ceased within five minutes of stopping. The redness went away within an hour. I came back the next day and finished up using the same method and with the same result except that it hurt less to do my left armpit.I immediately noticed the shadow I've been so ashamed of is no longer there. I am immensely happy with this outcome. However, there is still some hair that was missed. It is not viewable unless someone has their head right up close, though, and I imagine I'll be able to get rid of it as soon as it grows out a teensy bit. It also took a while to complete the process (each day). That might be because it was the first epillation, though, or because my hair is freaky weird growing in all different directions.---I did try this on my bikini lines. It hurt so much that I ceased almost immediately. Again, I'm a total wimp so maybe it'll be fine for others. But, for the underarms, it is completely tolerable.I hope this was helpful. =)

Emjoi epilator
Its a good device. I was going to get the braun 830 but decided on this one. And im happy i did. It works nicely for upper lip area. But takes practice to use the device ! So i wouldnt be dissapointed if you dont get it all right the first time. Between brows works nice. I have not tried it anywhere else. The only thing i dont agree with is the advertised "hair wont grow back for 4-6 weeks" i mean.....that all depends on the person. It is much quicker and cheaper then waxing. Deffinetly satisfied.

Ouch!!
I was excited to receive this product as my daughter was complaining of growing a moustache! I opened the package and thought I'd try it on myself before I gave it to her to use, I had read some reviews about it being painful and I wanted to see exactly how bad it would be! Needless to say I've had this for several months now and still haven't given it to her. Don't get me wrong, it does the job but.....it hurts! I mean it really, really hurts! The bring tears to your eyes and wonder why you're being punished and "if I were a man I could just shave" kind of hurt!If you use it regularly, after suffering through the first initial use, then it isn't too bad and like I said, it does do the job but there are many, many other products out there that are way less painful and do just as good a job.

Good epi for the price.
This seems to work ok for me. I am older and bought this to use on my upper lip. I have tried it on my legs, underarms and bikini area. It works ok for me but my hair is very fine and soft. I am thinking if you had heavy, coarse hair you might want to buy a step up from this one. I did not notice it that painful. There is a little pull sensation but I was expecting something much worse from reading the reviews. Check out other sites as I did find it cheaper elsewhere after I already ordered.

thumbs up
Never owned an epilator before this one and bought it specifically for sideburns. I have threaded or waxed my facial hair for years but found that waxing irritated the skin on my face. I personally feel like this hurts less if not the same as waxing/threading.Had no problems the first time I used it and quite happy with the results thus far.YouTube was a great resource for how-to hair removal with epilators

Its worth the money
I have course facial hair and it works. For the price it's worth it. works but leaves alot of red behind compared to threading. I'll give it a 6.5/ 10. Still impressed.
