Don Strange of Texas: His Life and Recipes

Very enjoyable read, and full of excellent recipes. A little heavy on the biographical side of this Texas legend, but I wasn't put off by that.The man catered some unbelievably large soirees, and apparently never failed to dazzle his clients.If you are expecting all Tex-Mex, you are in for a very pleasant surprise--there are some quite sophisticated recipes in this book:I'll buy it for my family for Christmas

Don Strange was the best thing to happen to the San Antonio cooking scene since the invention of Tex-Mex. He proved that our Texas home cooking could also be haut cuisine. If you're not into cooking, the pictures and narrative of this book are just a good as the recipes. It's a celebration of life in the Hill Country!

The book is beautiful...the story of Don Strange is inspiring and the photographs are superb, even "mouth watering." The recipes are clearly written and easy to follow. I can't wait to try them and am looking forward to amazing my guests. I have already "blown them away" with the fajitas. The book is also amazing... the story of the self-made catering career of Don Strange. His creativity was boundless and his "can do" attitude amazing. And, his goal to make every event the best his customer had ever experienced was inspiring. Every aspiring caterer should put this book on their "must read" list. Culinary schools may find this book helpful to their students as well.

Wonderful book - talented man. Love the beautiful pictures and how the recipes are presented. Have attended many of his catered diners.

This is a wonderful cookbook and a great biography to boot. Worth the purchase just for the Cafe Mystique recipe.

I love it I could hardly wait for the book to come out. I went to some of his events and his food was amazing and so was he. Thanks to his wife for finishing the book. I have recommended it to lots of folks

More than a cookbook......I enjoyed the stories behind the man and his business. Having had the opportunity to sample Don Strange's mouth-watering food at various catering events, I look forward to trying some of these recipes at home. Thank you, Frances, for sharing his story and recipes.
