Totally Enjoying this Elite 813 Pressure Cooker
(edit) 1/4/2017 -- At the time I bought mine in Feb. 2015, this Elite EPC 813 bundle was not yet on Amazon. I got the cinnamon one from HSN and it had all the pieces mentioned in my review. At the time I wrote the review Amazon had only the Plum color with all the pieces mentioned. I see now that it has changed to a basic purchase with several colors. see that at this date HSN has the racks and slow cooker / table serving lid available for separate purchase. I leave it to you to check Amazon for these extra helpful items.)This item bundle has a glass lid for slow cooking, two sizes of racks, a rice spoon, rice measuring cup, a little condensation collection cup, and the cord. This pot has a brown/saute feature, a slow cooking feature and other push-a-button features for different food groups. I got mine mid February 2015. I did not use it until I got the replacement stainless steel insert pot. I personally do not like high pressure cooking in a no-stick type coated pan--just my feeling. My rice cooker has that and if I use it for slow cooking the no-stick coated pan smells like what I last cooked. I paid an additional $40 plus shipping for the ss insert pan.The stainless insert pot cleans well. No after smells. When I browned meat, the resulting browned stuff in the bottom came off after I removed the left over food, added some water, and left it on keeps warm with the lid locked on till I was ready to clean it after dinner. I only had to use a paper towel to scrub it out.I just made a pot of chicken noodle soup which turned out great. I made cheater Spanish rice the other day and that turned out great also (browned hamburger in the pot first, spiced it with a bit of taco seasoning, a chopped onion, a chopped celery stalk, 1 and 1/4 rice measure cup of Basmati rice, about 1 cup water and 2/3 of a jar of generic chunky salsa from wallyworld and pushed the rice button). It came out creamer than regular dry type Spanish rice but my husband loved it. Have also made pork chops on the rack over rice, made two or three noodle dishes using spaghetti sauce for one and chicken with noodles and a cream of chicken soup. Noodles need to be cooked the least amount of time so have learned to cook the other ingredients first and add noodles for what amounts to 8-11 minutes cooking time. The keeps warm feature kept food warm as long as I wanted. You Always Need some Liquid so it can make steam pressure in order to cook faster. I add extra time for frozen foods and especially frozen meats. The racks make it so meals are not necessarily a one pot meal. I use a small stainless steel bowl when I want to cook veges separately from the rest of the food. I set it on the small rack and if cooking meats, put the other rack on top of the bowl while rice cooks on the bottom. Works great. There is no on/off switch. When plugged in it is on (lights up) but not actually working till you push a button. Unplug to cut off electricity.I Have been having fun figuring out what else to make with ingredients on hand. I have yet to use the delay feature but one of these days I will try it and add to this post.
