Some say a home is where your heart is. Others say that a home is where you send people whose brains aren't functioning quite properly. So, when Kazunari Usa's parents send him to the Kawai Boarding House while they work abroad, it may take a while to figure out whether this is really his new home, let alone what kind of home it is. On the one hand, his new roommate is a pervert and a masochist who peeps at girls' schools, while his new landlady thinks leaving a variety of weapons lying around the girl's area is a proper form of feminine protection. And when it comes to the trouble-making college girl and the perpetually grumpy working woman… well, let's just say that those two have some serious issues to work out. On the other hand, Kawai is also home to Ritsu Kawai, who stole Usa's heart from the first second he saw her on his first day at his new high school. And that alone may just make living in this strange new house worth every second it takes to learn the complex rules of The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors & Hostel Behavior!

Refreshing and Relatable Comedy
- Synopsis: An anime showcasing the life of a student that falls for another resident at his newly arrived apartment complex. He has a tough hurdle to jump over, as she is reticent and is a huge bookworm. Much of the interactions between them is awkward, which often creates misunderstandings. Not only that, his other roommates are of unique personality and backgrounds. Tune in as this whacky slice of life comedy filled with romance takes you into the lives of these eccentric residents.===========================================================================================================- Comments: This anime is obscure and underrated for sure. The cast is likable, and the main character often gets trolled by his other roommates. Though he's a pretty innocent kid, so watching him cringe and such was funny. Overall, this is one pretty happy anime that makes you feel good inside. The viewer might end up cheering for the main character throughout the series. That, or might find him annoying due to his hesitation or mistakes.- Features: Japanese audio with English subtitles. Contains 13 episodes on 3 DVDs with a run-time of about 5 hours. Rated TV-14 due to some fan-service and suggestive dialogue.- Conclusion: Great anime if you're looking for laughs and to smile. I also liked the songs that were played in this anime. Fits various situations perfectly. It's a nice refreshing comedy with some silliness and 4th-wall breaking, but not so much it cannot be taken seriously. Excellent combination of comedy, slice of life, and romance.===========================================================================================================- Recommendations: Samurai Flamenco, Binbougami ga!, The Devil is a Part-timer, D-Frag, Shomin Sample, and Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist.

Kawai Complex
The artwork and story is good. It simmler to Love Hina. It has 12 episode. The only problem is the story is to short. It about the boy and the girl. Both go to the same high school and houseing complex. There is no real end. It seem to left thing open. I would like to see what happen with those 2 kids. Also with the rest of the supporting cast, I like to see what happen with them!

Comedy Romance at the Kawai Complex
I first saw this on Crunchyroll and liked it so much I bought the Blu-ray. This comes on three discs and has the usual features with both a Japanese and English sound track. The Plot - Kazunari Usa is a high school student who is sent to stay at the Kawai Complex whilst his parents study abroad. At the Kawai complex Kazunari discovers that he will have a room-mate who turns out to be a masochist and that the female boarders live in a separate part of the house where various gruesome blunt instruments line the corridors to stop male boarders from entering. Kazunari meets Ritsu who goes to the same high school but who is much more interested in reading than in romance. This is the story of how (or how not) romance blossoms between Kazunari and Ritsu while their path to love is aided and hindered by the other residents of the complex. The characters - The various characters are generally well thought out but not necessarily very original. If you watch enough anime you'll recognise the lonely salary woman with a penchant for beer and the surprisingly competent and observant masochist from Wagnaria and Dog and scissors respectively. Kazunari could have come from any number of series too. However the stories are well told in a gentle manner but with an occasional very sharply observed satirical sense of humor. Each episode develops nicely from the next and there are no real weak episodes except from the last one which is effectively an OVA stuck on the end of the series. There's no real fan service and the action is mainly carried by the script rather than by action-sequences.Animation and soundtrack - The animation and color is as good as you would expect from modern anime studios. The soundtrack is OK but the opening and closing themes won't be finding their way onto my exercise playlist any time soon. I haven't listened to the English soundtrack as the Japanese voice acting and subtitles keep the feel of the anime so much better. Conclusion - This is a gently humorous slice of life rom-com that will feel vaguely familiar to some. The stories are good and the characters work well individually and collectively with enough moments of surprise and delight to keep the series flowing. I've watched it a number of times and enjoy it each time and find new bits to savor.Other anime you may like - Wagnaria, Dog and Scissors, Servant x Service

Great anime. The only complaint is that I wish it had a second season. :)

Great series!
Simple enough: what you see is what you get, a DVD collection with just the episodes, along with one little bit of extra content.
