Q: Is this a good first plane?

If you have plenty of flying space, yes, I think this would be a good first RC plane. It is big and powerful so be careful. If you have a low-wind environment, the Sport Cub S is a very good first plane. It is a terrific value considering everything that is included.

I don't own the CC s+ 1.3 but I can tell you this: I can't imagine of a better flying airplane than the AeroScout. It has lots of power and will do everything you ask it to do, when you ask, and things happen quickly. The CC is a very nice looking model which I would like to own but at $100 more than the AeroScout RTF, as a first plane, when you crash it you will be $100 sicker. I would also look into a better controller, ie DX6e and go with BNF models. You'll be glad you did.

Q: Does this have aileron control?

Yes, this is 4 channel control; elevator, aileron, rudder - coupled with steerable nose wheel and throttle. Dual rates on control surfaces as well....can be a very gentle flier or is capable of intermediate aerobatics.

Q: why would the purchase display the transmitter batteries, lip battery, and charger?

I bought aeroscount with my dx7 transmitter don't need all the stuff they offer
