The closing procedure is manual, which requires that you close the canopy by pulling it into the closed and locked position. Q: How many mph wind can this with stand? any range around or upto 50 mph or 60 mph?

I have two of these umbrellas. I have not made any tests of them, but I can say that they are very well constructed. I live in a place with strong winds and have never had a problem. It is hard to imagine that you would use an umbrella in 60 mph winds, which is close to hurricane force. I suspect that if you opened one of them In a storm with winds of 50 to 60 miles an hour, the wind would probably take the umbrella out of your hand before the umbrella would break or, if you manage to hold onto it, it would pull you down.

Q: Is the tip of the FX1 style suitable for light use as a walking stick? With my current umbrella the tip was damaged by a few trips on sidewalk.

Definitely. Im 6-04 250. I use mine as a walking stick. The tip could be slick on tile, as to me not rubberized enough. The only complaint is the opening mechanism broke through the shaft, and falls out and doesn’t close right without finesse.

Q: Are the ribs fiberglass? What material is the shaft?
