Product description A dying scientist has dropped a bioweapon canister into the hands of an ice cream deliveryman and a convenience-store clerk and now they are on a race to get it to a military base before the assassins get them.Genre: Feature Film-Action/AdventureRating: RRelease Date: 7-SEP-2004Media Type: DVD .com Someone must have really shown Cuba Gooding Jr. the money for him to risk his Oscar cachet on this derivative buddy movie that never quite gets up to Speed despite its blatant ripoff of that breakneck thriller's gimmick. Instead of a bomb-rigged bus forced to maintain its speed of 50 mph, here we have Elvis, a chemical weapon that must be kept cooler than 50 degrees. Standing between us and flesh-melting defoliant devastation are the requisite mismatched antagonists Mason, a short-order cook (Skeet Ulrich), and Arlo, a thief (Gooding). Elvis was created by Mason's fishing buddy, Dr. Richard Long (David Paymer), a biologist still shaken up by a deadly test 10 years earlier that went awry and killed 18 soldiers. Instead of Long, "thorn in the side" Captain Andrew Bryner (Peter Firth) took the fall and went to prison. Now, the embittered Bryner has been released and is understandably vengeful. A ticking time bomb himself, the demented Bryner leads the relentless pursuit of Mason and Arlo, who have been compelled by Long to transport Elvis to a military base 90 miles away in--get this--Arlo's ice cream truck. Gooding works hard for the money, although he was shortchanged by the script ("I'd like to kick your ass like last year's underwear" is a sample bon mot). Still, he makes his exuberant Oscar acceptance speech look restrained. And Firth makes an effective villain. "Your lives will end on this miserable road to nowhere," he warns the duo, "and I can't guarantee the end will be quick." Hardly a Factor at the box office, this thriller is fine for action fans who want to put their brains on cruise control and just chill at home. --Donald Liebenson

Chill Factor
What a surprise this was. With no real pre-conceived ideas I thoroughly enjoyed this film mainly because the on-screen chemistry between Mr Ulrich and Mr Gooding Jnr worked well, but also because I was half expecting a low budget B movie and in fact it was pretty high tech, action packed, good plot, A movie, thrill ride. What one might call a hidden gem. Peter Firth was a bonus as the bad guy and some of the special effects were good. Well worth a look. Entertaining.

Engaging, hilarious, and action until the end…
I never disliked anything about the movie. I never had the chance to watch it in theaters when it first debuted in 1999. It is definitely worth the money to invest in! I recommend this film to others. Trust me, the acting and characters will not disappoint you.

Chill Factor from Amazon
I was finally able to find this movie. I am glad that Amazon had it. Cubi Gooding is great as a supporting actor in it, but it is hard to find. The movie was in excellent condition and plays well. Delivery was fast too. It is about made-made crystal that has massive destructive power that a vengeful ex-colonel is trying to get his hands on it. The material must be kept cold otherwise it will explode and it is up to Urich and Gooding to keep it chilled. I enjoyed the movie.

Chill Factor! Excellent Movie
This is such a great movie! I don't understand why it's so hard to find. The movie company needs to consider selling this in streaming format because everyone I know has seen it, loves it. And disc's take over 200 years to decompose, give us a streaming version. That's what the world is changing to so please catch up! I now own the dvd, but would purchase a stream in an instant!

Stupid, but fun - the movie equivalent of popcorn, maybe
I can't explain why, but I keep coming back to this movie every time the stars are right. Part of it is the chemistry between Cuba Gooding Jr. and Skeet Ulrich; they make a good team, with the usual wisecracks and one-liners that are de-rigueur for an action comedy like this one. I also like the ex-military guy and his crew; they are pretty standard fare for this sort of movie, but they never get tiresome, so it works. I think a big part of the attraction for me, though, is Elvis, the chemical weapon that is the movie's McGuffin. I cannot get enough of blue goo that kills you right in the face if it gets warmer than 50F (figuratively speaking, of course - if Elvis were real, 0.000 micrograms would be 'enough', and I could easily get that much (preferably even less ;) ))
