Shepherd Hardware9547 4-Inch Lazy Susan Turntable, 300-lb Load Capacity

We just got a new kitchen countertop and had them give us an 18" round piece of stone (from the sink cutout) so we could make a portable lazy susan for serving at parties. This turntable was EXACTLY what we needed to make it work smooth as silk. It is very, very thin, so it adds very little height beneath the disk. It is completely silent and smooth as it rotates. I was a little nervous getting it because I figured that with a price this low, it couldn't be very good. Boy was I wrong - it's actually extremely good quality material and workmanship, and a very good overall design. I couldn't be happier! We decided to just leave the lazy susan in the middle of our kitchen table - it's a lot of fun to "pass the ketchup" with just a quick swipe of one finger! :-)

So, I actually bought this to make a lazy susan to put my 6' artificial Christmas tree on! It works great, very good quality, I am very pleased with my purchase

I have the old Triangle Oshkosh WI 4" and it takes a touch of a finger to move it. And it moves freely!This one you have to really push hard to make it turn. It works but it is not the same as the best one.

Well made, heavy duty swivel base. The package states it is rated at 300 pounds; that is kind of ridiculous, as I cannot imagine anyone wanting to build something that heavy to swivel on such a small base. But it is very sturdy, ball-bearing construction. The plates are thin, so I would not expect it to prevent the toppling over, of an item with a high center of gravity. Overall, good value.

This item met my needs. I was worried about wobbling, but it was minimal. I believe it would work well under a very heavy load, although I was using a very light load. In fact, being so light, it did not turn freely. I solved this problem by washing the thick heavy duty grease in the ball bearings out with solvent and then replaced it with a light oil. Now it turns easily with just a light touch.

While this would work nicely for a small lazy Suzan, this by no means would work for anything over 20 lbs. There is simply too much play between the two halves. Even if the bearing was fixed to a large base, any object placed off center from the bearing would cause the bearing/base to tip side to side. I found this unacceptable in my application.

This hardware was perfect for the Lazy Susan application. The bearings were sufficiently lubricated so that the unit turned easily. One tip for the installation is that you can use double sided tape instead of screws to fix both the bottom pad and the turntable. Just remember to apply pressure to the tape to make it secure.

Purchased to swing around a monitor with ease. Not a permanent installation, so I actually use it with a square of one of those non slip mats for a table to keep the monitor from sliding off of it, and it from sliding off the table.
