A Taste of Thai Coconut Ginger Soup Base, 2.1-Ounce Packets (Pack of 12)

This is so good! I love Tom Kha Gha and this is a great soup base. It is mild in spiciness, but the flavor is citrusy and bright. You can boil the chicken directly in the broth from raw and add any vegetables you want. I prefer to sauté my veggies in butter before adding to the broth, but it's not necessary you could boil them. I keep frozen chicken breast and a can of coconut milk on hand so I can have this delicious soup any time I want. Each package actually has 2 spice pouches. The pouches contain a spice paste that you mix with the can of coconut milk. You then add the raw chicken that you chop into thin slices and boil until cooked through. Then add the can of chicken broth (approx. 15 oz) and any veggies you like (I use sliced carrots, fresh green beans cut in 3rds, chopped onion, and sliced baby bella mushrooms, yum, I think I need a bowl of this now. Makes enough for 2-3 large servings, I'd make a double batch for 4 people because it's so good it will disappear.

I absolutely love Thai Coconut Ginger soup. I have no idea what this stuff is but it is most assuredly NOT Coconut Ginger soup. It is disgusting - there is an odd taste that I can't describe or identify that makes it inedible. It's so bad that I won't even give it away to anyone. I'm sorry I wasted my money. I'm going to simply make it myself from now on.

This is my Husband's Favorite Soup..maybe tied for first place with Seafood Chowder. This is waaay easier to make though, and there are no Thai restaurants here in the tiny mountain town of Pagosa Springs. It makes a satisfying meal with chicken, mushrooms, matchstick carrots, celery, and rice cooked in. We often have a toasted crunchy bread with it and a salad with a peanut/sesame vinagrette dressing for a great meal. I'm glad that I found a place to buy it on-line. I too have requested that my local supermarket stock it with no success. I signed up for auto-delivery, which also brings the price down and insures that I will not run out. Making this tomorrow...YUMMM!

Fantastic product and price - for some reason it has been hard to find locally, but the bulk pack saves time and hassle. Wonderful soup mix, highly recommended and will buy again (and again and again and.....)

This product is great mixing with rice as well. Though not organic, the ingredient list is straight forward. To review by busternc about this not being natural: the ingredient is not hydrogenated oil as you suggest (which is bad for you, producing trans fat and potential health issues), but hydrolyzed soy oil. This is not the same at all, simply a break down of protein into baser amino acids, making it easier for your body to digest. Not a bad thing, actually. Check over your chemistry :). This product is also gluten free. Pricing here is a little better than at my local market, where it's approx $3 for a pack of two. Unless I can acquire an organic version here, I will continue to buy and enjoy!

This is a wonderful tasting soup - easy to make and so good! I couldn't find it locally and one of my stores offered to order it, but never did. Then someone suggested Amazon. Yum yum! It was cheaper at Amazon and I sign up for the autodelivery so I will never run out!

This ATOT Tom Ka coconut ginger soup base is very hard to find, but it's the real deal! You can follow the recipe on the package and it's guaranteed to turn out delicious. If you want something different you can make it with a slight twist. Add part of a can of unsweetened pumpkin puree to the soup (to taste) and it becomes Thai Coconut Ginger Pumpkin Soup. This turns out very close to the kind served in various Thai restaurants.

Myself being a huge Thai food fan in general,I was very excited about receiving this and just adding some chicken and rice to the broth and calling it a meal.Whilst this is certainly doable,the flavour unlike the vast majority of other Thai food products (and I’m saying that as someone whom has visited Thailand 4 times and lived there for six months.)was disappointing.I cannot think of the words to accurately describe it other then just”not good.”I am someone whom doesn’t waste food and had to literally choke back the awful taste of this as I ate it.
