THOMSONElite Seat Post Clamp

I bought the seat post from the seller "Gap30Cycles" I had no pressing urge to have the seat post delivered to me at rapid speeds, so I selected the free shipping and the expected delivery date was a month out or something. I was pleasantly surprised when it came next week. The seat post clamp was exactly what I expected and exactly the size I ordered on top of that it came with a cute bag and an instruction manual.

If you know bicycles, you should know Thomson makes some nice parts. They do not make oodles of bike parts, at least that I know of, appearing to specialize in stems, seat posts, and handlebars mostly (they do offer a bike, which I bet is nice). They make quality stuff and it is decently priced in my tightwad opinion. All the Thomson stuff I have is also made in the USA, which is a bonus (they do appear to offer a carbon handlebar from Taiwan).The clamp came nicely packaged in a fabric pouch, and has a serious heft to it. The finish is nice and uniform, and clamped up with less force than expected (less than other clamps). I needed it for an older Cannondale M800, which was in need of a new clamp thanks to the old nylon washer of the original clamp wearing away to nothing. I do not need to adjust the saddle, keeping it in one position for my now older, slower riding style (I was slow all along, enjoying the scenery). If you need a quick release clamp, I suggest skipping this model.It works fine and holds the seat post firmly in place.Highly recommended!

I'm 6'4" and 220 lbs and ride fast and aggressive. I have broken countless bikes and bike parts since I picked up mountain biking in 1989. When I switched to Thompson in the mid-90's after snapping a seat post on a ride I have never had to replace one. Best strength to weight ratio, precision adjustment and never creeks. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other seatpost suppier!

I built a mountain bike over the summer, which was a steel frame On One Inbred. It has a weird size for the seatpost, but this clamp fits it well due to the frame company not really accounting for paint thickness. When I got it, it came in a small cloth bag, which is great for organizing small parts later in, say, an under-saddle bag.The clamp itself is very well machined, and if you can deal with it being slightly asymmetrical from above, makes for a very good clamp. It takes surprisingly little to completely lock down the seatpost. I'm definitely not a very heavy guy, but I can tell that this can take a lot of weight without letting things slip. Installation was easy, as it slid right on, and has a little lip on the inside to stop it from sliding too far down.tl;dr This clamp does its job. May be a little pricy for what it is, but you get what you pay for.

Product is great and looks gorgeous and hence rating it as 4. Because the reviews are all about how good a product is. Should we spend that much money into a clamp, is individual discretion. I have a carbon frame and didn't want to risk taking chances so went with one of the best. But maybe they knew this and so their product is marked premium. At the end of the day, it is just a clamp.

Just installed, so don't know how durable it'll be, but looks great as a replacement for my Colnago seat clamp that failed.

Top quality seat post clamp. Thomson has a limited catalog, but everything they make just works.I snapped a bolt in my original seat clamp. My local bike shop sold me a leightweight clamp that couldn’t keep the seat post in position through 20 minutes of riding. Within a week, I ordered the Thomson. It has been bulletproof.The sizing is based on the diameter of your frame’s seattube. I have an aluminum road bike with a 27.2 seat post. 31.8 clamp fits my frame.

Nice sleak design, but image is an little misleading. This looked to me to be half matt, half glossy finish, which is what attracted me. It still looks nice in full gloss though. I would recommend changing the 3mm Allen key bolt to a more standard size.Also, the recommended torque is 2.8nm, I would only stick to that If clamping a carbon post. I tightened to 4nm on alloy post and have a nice secure clamp.

Zunächst hatte ich zwiespältige Gefühle: Einerseits fand ich das Design der Klemme super, anderseits war ich bei dem angegebenen Höchst-Anzugsmoment von 2.8 Nm sehr skeptisch und befürchtete, dass die Satttelstütze (ich bin ein radelndes Schhwergewicht) schlagartig bis zum Anschlag im Sattelrohr des Rades verschwindet. Ich bin überrascht: Trotz des geringen Höchst-Anzugsmontes hält der Klemmring die Stütze (ebenfalls von Thomson) bombensicher. Auch bei ruckligen Pisten. Das Material und die von Thomson angeführte besondere Anordnung der Klemm-Mechanik machen die relativ geringen und materialschonenden Anzugsmomente tatsächlich möglich. Top. Ich habe übrigens einen Drehmomentschlüssel für die Montage verwendet. Nur so sind die 2.8 Nm exakt einstellbar. Die ausgezeichnete Wirkung (optisch und technisch) überzeugen total. Ich bin begeistert.
